Edible Brussels

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

brussel sprouts (enough to feed everyone)
a bit of oil (1-2 teaspoons)
garlic (1-3 cloves....you can never have enough)
3/4 cup (175ml) made up "chicken" or veggie stock

Directions:

Wash and cut sprouts in half. Heat oil in pan, toss in sprouts. Add the garlic (don't add the garlic to the oil or you will burn it).

When the sprouts are getting nice and blackened, add the stock. Let the stock reduce so that there is no water left....it should look slightly goopy and the sprouts should be charred.

My aunt usually adds lots of butter but you could add some spectrum spread. Personally I like the lower fat version better.

This was SO excellent. Such an easy recipe and the results are superb. I added scallions when I added the garlic, and didn't add any butter. So good. Thanks!

These were good.  This is basically how I always prepare brussel sprouts (except the blackened part...I just sautee them forever with some butter and seasoning).  I grew up eating them all the time so I love them!

I didn't really like the goopy-ness of these. It might've been the brand of stock I used, but it ended up being way too salty/gunky for me.  Sad

YUMMMMMMY!  I love Brussel sprouts!  I do them very much like this and then have them either with a mustard sauce or dill sauce to dip them in.

Wow, all my life, I have HATED brussel sprouts, but now that has all changed since trying this recipe!  Mine didn't turn out gluggy at all, just perfectly soft but not mushy and oh so full of garlicy flavour!!  Wow!  I served this on a bed of mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes (yams).  An awesome, nutritious, easy weekend meal for one.  Thank you sooo much for this recipe!! xxx  Smitten
