You could also call this The Sandwich That Got Snowbunny87 to Eat Onions!

This sandwich is so easy and simple, I can't believe I never thought of it!  I sprinkled a little dried pesto mix (mine was from Tastefully Simple) along with the other herbs and it tasted amazing.

A fun variation of this is to use vegan mayonnaise instead of cream cheese and add lettuce after grilling... like a way awesomer version of a BLT Smiley

Thanks for sharing the recipe...I now have a quick alternative to the PB&J I usually live off of!

I bet cucumbers would be good! I haven't tried it, but I bet the flavor/crispiness would meld nicely with the other flavors/textures in this recipe! Yummm... I might make it this way next time! Cheesy

To me, it really does taste a lot like a grilled cheese sandwich, so I would add whatever you are accustomed to adding to those (ie. mushrooms, fake bacon, fake ham, etc.) I used to add tomatoes to my grilled cheese so I think these are just delish!  Wink

This sandwich was excellent, I don't care for tomatoes myself eitherand I figured if it got your brother to eat tomatoes than why not me too! A good recipe if you want to try something new. The only thing I did different was I used french bread cause its all I had and I used hummus instead of cream cheese because its not available to me. Thank you for sharing the recipe. I've made it twice already! Thanks again!

I love a good tomatoe  sandwich! This is really good. Next time I may saute the onions just a bit only because the onion flavor drowns out the tomatoes a bit but sooooo yummy. Very Italian.  Wink

this sandwich is awesome!  i'm eating one as i write this.  it's kinda messy with the heated cream cheese, but boy is it good!  i added in some "ham" for fun, and like stalker i think next time i'll try sauteing the onion too.   w00t

This came out great!  I sautéed a brown onion and it was a great addition.  Next time I'm going to try this sandwich with veggie ham and soy bacon bites.  I think that will add even more flavor.  I don't recommend using parsley on the outside of the bread. It gave it an odd flavor.  I love the garlic though. Yummy!!! biggrin

WOW. I've been wanting to try something different, but to be honest with you, I hate both raw tomatoes and cream cheese. However, the reviews and the adorable name convinced me... if a little brother can enjoy a tomato sandwich, maybe I can too. I DID!!! I could barely even taste the blandness of raw tomatoes I usually hate, and the combination of the spices with the cream cheese made for an irresistable delight! I didn't have onions or chives, but I added lots of garlic, oregano, rosemary, and thyme. Delish! Smiley I think next time I might mix some ketchup in with the cream cheese for added tang... I'll let everyone know how it turns out!

This was excellent!  I used hard rolls, put the garlic seasoning inside and baked them.  Just because it was what I had.....but I bet they are even better grilled.  Thanks!

I've been seeing the reviews for this sandwich pop up from time to time for months now and to be honest I thought, all this hype over a sandwich.....puhleez!  Well, I finally tried this sandwich and now I understand all the hype.  It was totally awesome!  I loaded it down with lots of fresh garlic chives from my herb garden and I woofed the whole thing down in about 5 minutes.  My beautiful daughter loved it too.

This receipe was good, though the onions were strong. I would suggest cooking them first.
