Banana Ice Cream Smoothie

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

    soy milk
    banana
    protein powder (optional)
    dash of cinnamon (optional)

Directions:

Once your banana is ripe, with some brown spots on it, take it out of the peel, cut it up in 4ths or 5ths, and place it in the freezer.

Once frozen, place the banana in a blender with 1 cup of soy milk, some protein powder and a dash of cinnamon.

You will have a deliciously creamy smoothie that is like soft serve ice cream but good for you!

Serves: 1

Preparation time: 5 min

who would have thought that something so simple would be so good? i used unsweetened soymilk so i added a little maple syrup and a pinch of cinnamon. i don't use protein powder so i left it out.

Mine didn't turn out quite like soft serve, but yummy nonetheless.

I had chocolate soymilk in the fridge, chocolate protein powder, and I put in too much cinnamon by accident but the cinnamon really makes this.  I put the cut-up banana in the blender cup and put it all in the freezer.

Great recipe!

Ok I can't believe how simple this is and I don't know why I never thought of this before, its doesn't sound that amazing, but although so simply it is like the best breakfast shake ever, my mouth has been watering all day I want another one sooooo bad.  Its is SO GOOD! I used vanilla almond milk. :-)

I added blueberries to my frozen nana smoothie for this morning's breakfast and it was gorgeous, even my fella said it wasn't bad when I forced him (er, i mean, encouraged him Wink) to taste it and he's not big on fruit or smoothies!

My husband makes something like this *every* day after rollerskating.  He keeps a gallon-size bag in the freezer, and whenever we have bananas that start to get too ripe, he peels, them, breaks them in fourths, and puts them in the bag, so they're always ready.

He calls his a "milkshake" and gets it to a more ice cream-like consistency by first putting in the frozen bananas, pouring soy milk over them, letting it sit there in the blender for a few minutes, then blending, then adding any other ingredients and blending again.  He usually adds chocolate chips and either a little peanut butter or mint extract.

ice cream-like consistency is good - I made one for my niece recently and she was so confused: she tried to drink it, she tried licking it, we gave her a spoon and she wanted it in a bowl by which time it had become a bit more runny and the spoon was dispensed with, she returned to drinking it, one thing's for sure she was determined to have it!
