Tofu Italiano

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

    1 block firm tofu
    1 jar of spaghetti sauce (or homemade sauce)
    marg. or other frying subst.

Directions:

heat the sauce

slice the tofu block into thin strips and sprinkle with garlic sauce and oregano....fry until golden brown

Dip sticks in the sauce....mmmmmmmmm!

This does sound good, though it would be alot healthier if instead of margarine (hydrogenated oils! trans-fats! no! NO!) olive oil were substituted...alot more Italian, too...

Not bad although the directions need to be clearer.  What exactly is Garlic Sauce?  I took one block of Firm Tofu in water and pressed it for 45 minutes to get the water out.  It was then cut into strips, .25 x 3 approx.  I ran each piece through powdered garlic and oregano in a small bowl to coat each piece.  I coated a frying pan with extra virgin olive oil and heated to med-high heat.  I fried each to a golden-brown level.  It was good! But tasted like scrambled egg sticks!  I'll try freezing the tofu first next time.

Why the f-ck haven't i thought of this!? I love spaggehti sauce so i know im gonna like it (i haven't tried it yet in case you're wondering).
