Hefner Tofu

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

    1 package of soft tofu
1 tablespoon fine ginger and green onion
    2 tablespoon chopped green onion
    1/4 teaspoon of M.S.G.
    2 teaspoon of soy sauce
    3 teaspoon of cilantro
    2 tablespoon of vegetable oil

Directions:

Preparation time: 15.

1. Set stir-fry pan on high heat for half a minute

2. put in 2 tablespoon of vegetable oil and fine ginger root and green onion

3. when the smell of the spice starts, put in 1 package of soft Tofu, reduce to medium heat, do not stir

4. after the Tofu gets hot ( about 5 minutes ), pour in soybean sauce and wait for 1 minute.

M.S.G. ?  Is there something else we could use in place of that that's a little healtheir, or can it be ommitted without any drastic difference? The recipe sounds good except for that.

im with soy...the msg part turned me off. suggestions, anyone?

I have never used msg before.  I've heard that salt works good, though.

MSG- known to cause epileptic seizures in children...STAY AWAY FROM IT!  Its classified as GRAS (generally recognized as safe) but its questionable and that classification is being reconsidered.

you can use nutritional yeast instead of msg, but I don't really know how much better it is for you because lately I've heard bad things about the yeast

What size is your box of tofu, please?

What have you heard about the yeast?  It is sooo annoying.. it seems that no matter what we do someone will always criticize or come out with a negative about something. No one is perfect. We all do the best we can do.

huh?

I would avoid MSG like the plague. Not only has it been linked to seizures it also has an addictive and dehydrating quality. Salt is a better way to go for what purpose it looks to serve in this recipe. Has anyone tried this recipe? It sounds like it would be a lump of squishy and and saucy tofu.

Not only is MSG addictive among other things, it contributes to obesity.  They use MSG to make rats obese in lab studies.  Unrefined celtic sea salt that still has all its minerals is a better option, and I have not heard anything negative about nutritional yeast and I didn't find anything with a quick google search.  Maybe someone could clarify.
