What movie would you like to live in?

We all have days when reality gets a little tight and uncomfortable, when you'd love to just live some other life for awhile. So what movie would you like to live in?

I'd go for Jeremy Brett's version of The Hound of the Baskervilles. Nobody but the bad guy gets hurt, justice is done, and the houses are gorgeous. I'd love to live in an isolated Stately Home on the moors right about now.

What about you?

I just thought of another movie I would like to live in: Big.  I want a sweet loft like Tom Hanks' character had and I want to play music on a giant piano that you have to step on and slide across.

In a strange, pathetic slum child kind of way, I wouldn't mind being Sophie in "Vanya on 42nd Street." I'd love to live in big ramshackle old farmhouse in the Ukraine as long as Daddy didn't come to visit too often...

I just watched The Sound of Music this weekend, I love that movie, of course I don't want to have to escape to Switzerland!

I just saw "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" again. I'd like to spend some time there...without the violent part, of course. I mean, they can shoot each other, as long as I'm out of the way. The Lady Chablis cracks me up.

Me too.  I'm a John Cusack fan and I love the rapport between the two of them.

I am bumping this thread and its 2 companions because there are so many new VWers and I'm curious about their choices.

And before anyone moans about reactivating old threads, just don't click on it again. No harm done.

:w00t!: Right on, Anna! I've got your back! This question was tricky. There are lots of movies that I love the subject matter (Se7en) but I wouldn't want to live there. I also love time periods (Amadeus orrr anytime around America's breakaway from those damn redcoats).

Anyhow! I've loved this movie since my childhood and I used to pretend I was in this family as a child. I'm going to stick with - The Addams Family.  ;)b

PM, I was sooo hoping you'd post on these threads! You and a lot of other new VWers, of course! A lot of peeps will reference movies and series I don't know of, since I'm stuck here in Spain with my head tightly wedged in the 17th century (for work) but this way I can get ideas of stuff to check out!!

Here the old Addams Family just came out on DVD. On the commentary they discussed it not making the cut to colour. I think BW is better, gives it that "graveyard grey" feeling.

Marie Antoinette (Kirsten Dunst one) minus the demise of the estate at the end.. Harry Potter. Bright Star. The Illusionist. Rushmore.

Of course! I've a unlimited supply of opinions. Haha! I never really watched the tv show until I saw the movie. I fell in love with the darkness.

I remember in elementary school, everyone would want to play "family" or "house"..you know..live in your own family. I would always pretend I was Gomez Addams. He was odd, rich, dark, and passionately in love with Morticia. Although, in real life, I was in love with Christina Ricci (Tuesday Addams). Maybe this explains my love of black corsets? lol

After the movie, I discovered the reruns on tv. They weren't as dark but just as campy. I'll have to see if I can find the DVD. And yes! Booo to color! It's like making the Alfred Hitcock show color...bad news!
