Okay, i know y'all read these books...

I just got Vegan With A Vengeance  and Vegan Planet in the mail today, so i am wondering...

what are your favorite recipes from these books?

I chose them because they seemed to be the most highly reccomended both here and on amazon :)

I haven't looked  at Vegan Planet in a while, but here are a couple of favorites from VWAV:

Fronch Toast: best vegan French toast hands down

Lemon Corn Waffles with Blueberry Sauce: read the tagline to the recipe and you'll know what I think about these.

Tempeh Sausage Crumbles (pg 22) and White Bean and Tempeh Sausage Gravy (pg 27):  Really flavorful and one of my favorite tempeh recipes.  I sub cumin seeds for fennel seeds because I don't like fennel.  Try the crumbles that aren't made into gravy on pizza.

Moroccan Tagine with Spring Vegetables: my husband and I both really like this recipe because it is different from what we usually make and quite flavorful. I have to mention, though, that someone else on this board made this recipe and didn't like it much.

Sweet Potato Crepes with Cilantro-Tamarind Sauce:  A lot of work but totally worth it, a special-night dinner.

Ginger-Macadamia-Cocounut-Carrot Cake: made this one for my omni mother's birthday and it was fabulous, everyone enjoyed it.

Lemon-gem cupcakes: mine kind of collapse in the middle but they are so lemony-good it doesn't matter.

Hope you enjoy your purchases!

I don't know if it's my favorite, as I haven't tried them all yet... but I just made the Ultimate Shepard's Pie from Vegan Planet for St. Patrick's day dinner with my family, and everyone adored it! There was hardly any left, which is more than I can say for the beef stEW.

Off topic, but if you love lemon, you have to make these cookies:

Read through the reviews to get the correct amounts of sugar for the batter and make sure to make the glaze.

LOL--just noticed you commented on that recipe already and complained about them not being lemony enough for you :) Oh well.

lol yeah that was my fault though for trying to save calories by not putting on the icing.

(didn't stop me from eating the whole batch though!)

Seems like you'll have lots of recipe suggestions from VWaV, so here are some for Vegan Planet:

I have to second the Ultimate Shepherd's Pie on page 365 (with the Mashed Potatoes and Company on top, of course!).  This is hands down the most amazing Shepherd's Pie I have EVER TASTED!!!  I love it so much and have brought it to countless holiday events and it's always a hit.  My husband requests it every year for his birthday dinner, too.  We love it!  :D

I also love love love the Black Bean and Butternut Squash Chili recipe on page 316 and I like the Red Bean and Sweet Potato Curry on page 286.

I love this book, so I could give more recommendations, if you want  :)
