NPR Morning Edition mentioned this morning how Joseph Priestley (who discovered oxygen)'s assistant in his lab wrote a poem about a mouse being experimented on:

They took a really detached tone, laughing at not knowing "the mouse's fate" etc, but it's a nice thing to know about anyway.
