My new hero

11 year old kid shoots a 1000+ lb pig  8 times and chases it down for 3 hours as it struggled to live and survive by running away from them.  :'( He and his dad are my new heros! Hunting....some &*$^#&* sport!

"It feels really good," Jamison, of Pickensville, said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press. "It's a good accomplishment. I probably won't ever kill anything else that big."

Jamison, who killed his first deer at age 5, was hunting with father Mike Stone and two guides in east Alabama on May 3 when he bagged Hogzilla II. He said he shot the huge animal eight times with a .50-caliber revolver and chased it for three hours through hilly woods before finishing it off with a point-blank shot.

Through it all there was the fear that the animal would turn and charge them, as wild boars have a reputation of doing.

"I was a little bit scared, a little bit excited," said Jamison, who just finished the sixth grade on the honor roll at Christian Heritage Academy, a small, private school.

His father said that, just to be extra safe, he and the guides had high-powered rifles aimed and ready to fire in case the beast with 5-inch tusks decided to charge.

That's sickening.  People suck.

Now there's a man who should never have been allowed to breed.
Teaching your kid to get off on something like that????
That is really sick.

It's so nice that parents involve their kids in fun and engaging activities that stimulate the mind and develop good ethics. :P

When I was a child (in PA) we got two extra holidays off from school. Buck Day and Doe Day--two full days off from school so that the youngsters could spend quality time with their parents stalking and killing innocent animals. It's a tradition, and fun for the whole family. Back then though, I thought it was pretty cool, cuz it meant I could stay home and play Atari all day. The next day, the kids would come back to school elated, regaling each other with hunting stories.  :o

OK - Yes, I fully agree that hunting with children (or at all) is stupid and revolting, etc.
But - Did you see the size of that pig????????!!!!?????????
I would rather that they had captured it or something & released it somewhere that no person will ever go instead of killing it....but d**n.   :o That was one massive animal...in freakin' Alabama?!?  I never want to go hiking again! lol!

Ya know, you're right...honestly, I didn't really take a good look at the photo, I was too annoyed with the story (so annoyed, I didn't finish it). That is one massive boar. Kind of scary. But more than that it is just so sad....  :'(

:'( I don't understand this drive to kill when it's not needed. I get why we did it when we all lived in caves and HAD to in order to survive. But ... what's the point of killing as a "sport"? No other animal kills for fun. Except humans. Well, ok, I'm sure there are exceptions with domesticated cats who like to "play" with their food. But, for the most part, animals don't kill for fun or sport. So, why this human drive to do it? I just don't get it.

And, are they REALLY going to eath ALL the meat from that pig? Really?!

I'm sad that this wasn't actually about a "hero"--just another animal murderer.  :'(

And what a cool animal--seriously, I did not know that pigs could get that big. It's bigger than a grizzly! Looks like part hippo or something. Very cool animal--how could someone's first instinct be "Wow, let's kill it (after 3+ hours of torture)" rather than to just be amazed by such a creature?

A girl I work with and I were talking about hunting as sport the other day, and she said something to the extent that she wondered if people could get the same "rush" if they were given a camera instead of a gun--they would still have to be sneaky and 'sporty' in order to get a fantastic 'shot' but they would be getting a photograph rather than a dead creature. Just a nice fluffy thought we pondered for a while...

They probably won't even eat it.  Not to judge everyone  who hunts, but I teach elementary school, and one of my kids said he got a 12 guage for Christmas so he could hunt deer with his dad.  So I said, "oh, do you guys like to eat venison?"  And he said "no, we usually just throw them in the pond."

I thought I was going to vomit.  I don't like hunting, but if the hunter actually eats what he/she kills, I don't get too upset, but this!  I couldn't even tell him what I thought.  I probably would have gotten fired.

>:( :'(

If they're going to hunt boar, they should have to do it the sporting way--the Mideval way. Where the guy had to kneel down in front of the charging animal, holding a boar spear, and hope that he got it right the first time!
Yes, it's still killing, and still barbaric, but it did even up the odds a bit...

I was thinking about this a bit more this morning and really needed to add what's on my mind. I don't know why I keep thinking of this poor pig, everything he went through, and thought about how long he was alive before these monsters came into his life and ended it.

I really would call this animal cruelty and torture. The fact is that the father said they had high powered shot guns as they watched the kid "stalk" the boar and keep shooting at it for 3 hours. Once the boar was hit and not killed instantly, they had the opportunity to end the misery and suffering this beautiful creature was going though right then and there. To not do so shows they enjoyed the "game" they played with this poor animal's life. It was more important to let the 11 year old toy with his life.

Three f*cking hours is a long time! Think of getting shot right now at this very moment and then being chased for 3 hours through the woods....think of the pain and how scared you would be. Even worse think of getting shot 7 more times as you try to run away and plead for your life and at some point just pleading and begging them to just end it and let it finally be over. 3 hours....3 f*cking hours!!!

I could only imagine the "high 5's" and celebrations that occurred with the final shot. These are not men, they are sissy's and wimps. The dad is raising the next generation of sissy's. I'd love to kick the sh*t out of them with my bare hands. But......I'm better then they are, I do not believe in violence and killing, enjoying watching something die. Watching it's final breath and the life go out of it's eyes and celebrate that as a victory in my life. I don't get an orgasm by violence and watching something die.

What was done was animal cruelty. I'm sure in Alabama.....it's just a "sport"....killing, and torture.
Sorry for my rant.....I just can't get this poor animal out of my mind, and the last 3 hours of it's life... :'(

Release it?  In a location that no person would go?  You don't really mean that.  Us god-feerin folk can go wherever we want, and do whatever we want.  That's jus the nachural order of things.

Not to minimize the importance of this post, Dave--but that's an interesting mental image. ???

LOL - After such a depressing post, this made me laugh.

I saw that they were planning on eating the animal, which I guess makes them...less wasteful? hmm...But they're having the head mounted...so manly.  :P

The whole thing is barbaric.  Poor ginormous boar.

Great...so now the movie Hogzilla is being filmed in South GA. All I can think is that is will make more idiots want to come hunt giant boars in GA. and AL. They are going to portray Hogzilla as a mean "man eating" boar. I wish he was.  >:(

I read this story when it broke too, and have been thinking about the boar ever since. It looks like some sort of forest god. It's amazingly magestic. That's gotta be some wickedly bad karma for all the people that killed it.  The dad made an e-mail address to send in "congratulations to Jamison Stone." I sent them my regards.  (jamison@monsterpig.com) ;D
