Bob Harper from Biggest Loser

Was browsing the racks at the bookstore about came across Bob Harper from Biggest Loser on the cover of VegNews.  Doing some more research, he just recently went vegan (go Bob!) but has been a long time vegetarian.  The last time I watched an episode of the Biggest Loser I saw Bob advertising for Jeanie-o and pushing turkey as a high protein snack.
I found this kinda odd.  I understand television shows have to plug their sponsors, but what if it's something that you don't eat?
How would you feel about promoting a non-vegan/vegetarian product?

yeah ive always thought that was kinda strange. id ever be able to advertise something that i didn't believe in.

It's in his contract, etc. It's been much better this season, though. He had all the contestant to his house for a vegan meal, and they show lots of vegan friendly snacks. /defending bob

I'd sell out for a paycheck as fat as Bob's. Just sayin'. You do what you gotta do!

Selling out is exactly the reason why animals are so exploited!

If I had a fat paycheck from essentially helping someone make wiser choices about their diet/lifestyle by eating more fruits, veggies, whole grains instead of tons of dairy, meat, and awful processed foods, I don't think I'd lose much sleep over it. And I'd have more money to spend on products made by vegan companies, and campaigning for issues that may be of importance to vegans worldwide.

Just sayin'.

and I'm happy that I think that's what he's now doing! (I mean...from what I see on the current season and his facebook updates....) I think he has more leeway this season, and he's further along in his veganism.

Well, the truth is, his main goal is to work on getting people to lose weight.  Many people will never become vegans, just out of sheer stigma, so if he incorporates a small amount of meat and dairy into things, they take the other 98% of his message without questioning him being a "vegan commie hippie who wants to ruin their lives".  It sucks how so many people will all of a sudden discount the advice of a veg solely because they're a veg, and think that it's all a trick to make them stop eating meat...  I hate the bad rap we get.
