another dog food recall..Natural Balance..

ugh..I really hope they figure out wtf with this ASAP, I feel my labX this food and she's FINE on it...it's one of the few foods that don't set her allergies off into outer space..

I'm REALLY starting to think that people's animals are getting sick and they are automatically pointing fingers to the foods they are eating.. I dont know what to think anymore..

Well those people that vaccinate their pets every single year, and use veterinarians that vaccinate every year could be the cause of many of the pets getting sick. A weak immune system suppressed by a poor diet, too many vaccines, and too much flea and tick crap is going to make a dog or cat sick much faster then a pet on a high quality natural premium food based diet. I have to say I was pretty shocked to read that on their website ???
thanks a lot, Davedrum, i thought i was the only one who thought that way! its the same with humans. so many antibiotics, hormones, vaccines, pills, artificial stuff and crap like that is whats making us ill!!!

I can't say I'm too surprised. TO me, Processed food is processed food even if you dress it up in "vegen" clothes. (Not that I feed that stuff anyway, as people should know by now ;) )
BUt Dave's got a really good point with the vaccines. There was an incident with ferrets not too l ong ago. Hundreds died. They couldn't figure out why. They were starting to think a new disease was emerging. :( You know what it was?

That was the link. Nearly ALL the ferrets that received vaccines in that one certain lot from that one manufacturer were killed.
They suspected I even lost one of my little girls to it. >:( >:( >:(
Yknow what..after my initial panic with this..I took a deep breath and I called Natural Balance. I was very surprised when someone answered my call on the 3rd ring, no please hold, no phone tree, no recorded message..just a real live person! I asked the woman what was going on, that I was concerned because I feed this to one of my dogs and she does very well on it. The woman told me they had gotten a few "coincidental" phone calls regarding the dry venison foods, so they decided to red flag it. I asked her a few as in I can count them on one hand, or a few as in I can fill a notebook. SHe said oh you could definitly count them on one hand.
I really feel that NB is erring on the side of caution. A few people said their dogs got sick, so in light of the crap that's been going down w/ Menu foods..lets pull it..better safe than sorry. Unfortunately I think in a situation like this your damned if you do, damned if you don't. I really believe that since the whole Menu Foods fiasco a lot of people ARE jumping to the conclusion that the instant Fluffy throws up, it MUST be the food.
Since I have an unopened bag of the Venison in my closet, I'm going to exchange it when I get the chance, no sense in wasting gas running to town when I have 2 other bags of Natural Balance Ultra food in my closet that the boys eat, I checked the ingredients and I think my labX shoudl be OK with it allergy wise.
I think NB did the RIGHT thing by pulling their Venison formula off the shelves. I will with confidence continue to feed my dogs the Natural Balance Ultra. I'm truly fanatical about what goes into my dog's stomachs, and I'm really surprised at myself that I'm NOT on line right now researching what other brands are available in my area...I'm comfortable with how this company is handling this problem, and I'm confident that the problem will be quickly isolated and resolved.
Not everything in this world is perfect, things happen, mistakes happen...especially when you are dealing with food. I mean even the purest of foods, green onions, spinach, salads have been "bad" and "recalled".
