Do I?
I figure it's one of the following:
1) We have interest in similar threads
2) You post everywhere so it's inevitable
3) I'm stalking you

Iono if I mentioned it in my previous post and I aingonna go back and look but I add my voice to the request for a decent search facility. Like you can narrow it down to Only recipes, or Only chat threads, or like that. I hate typing in the exact name of a recipe and getting everything but that.

I thought of another one -- I would like it if, when you submit a post, you are taken back to the thread rather than back to the forum.

There is a setting for this! Someone else will be able to be of more help describing exactly where, but my account is set like this so after I post, it brings me back to the thread instead of the general forum.

Mine does, too. Account settings..maybe?

My list is getting longer, I love it! I especially love that so many of your suggestions are in line with what we were thinking. We've started working on a bunch of changes you requested (search is a priority!) and we'll be able to roll out some of them soon!

Thank you all so much for this, it's more helpful than I can say. And as you know, keep 'em coming!

also - along the lines with the search tool - it'd be great to search thru your recipe box.  i have so many recipes in there that it takes forever to look through each category.

That reminds me... yeah, if the Recipe Box were more user-friendly, I think I'd come back to using it again. The thing that bugs me is when I change/delete/add a folder(category?) it moves every recipe up/down/to the moon and I have to re-sort them all...  :-\ I don't get why it does this.

ooh and i dont know if this exactly has been suggested yet - i know ppl mentioned searching for a specific ingredient but it would be cool if there were multiple boxes that we could put multiple ingredients in..

like if i had lots of tomatoes, asparagus & mushrooms it could find me a recipe that used all 3.

I would love it if there was a gluten free section.  If the recipes were all gone through and put into the correct categories that would be nice (a pain in the butt to do though).  But most of all I would love it if the recipe box was able to let you put the recipes you have in it, into different sections (desserts, casseroles, pasta. you get the idea) To make it more organized and so I don't spend 20 minutes trying to find what page a recipe is on.  That and also being able to search within your own recipe box would be nice. Also the search engine itself is pretty crappy, if we could pick to search by "ingredient", or "recipe title"  that would make it easier to find a recipe that you need but didn't add to your recipe box, or to find new recipes.  Also the search engine doesn't even bring up the right recipes half the time.  Other than that I love the website, I just would like it a bit more user friendly so I don't have to spend so much time looking for a recipe since I use them about everyday.  Thank you.

I don't know if this is possible, or if it'd be too labor intensive, or if other people would even agree to this, but I'd like to see some recipes thinned out, or recategorized.

It's really annoying to be looking for a recipe and come across something that reads like "1 can sauce, 1 pkg burger crumbles, 1 pkg veggie mix, 1 jar salsa" etc.  I think most of us are smart enough to open some cans and throw a dinner together and don't need a recipe to tell us what order to combine the canned/frozen food.

There are a lot of recipes that call for expensive ingredients too.  As a price-conscious consumer, I'd like to see a section for wallet friendly recipes, like meals under $10 or something.  Perhaps that's a little much, but I think everyone's looking for help reducing their food costs.

Perhaps there could be a link on the homepage that invites 1st time users to an info page, with links to introduce yourself, faqs, where to find info, etc.

Just a couple ideas I had bouncing in my head.

Something to keep in mind is that since we have a membership spanning the globe, what can be dirt cheap in one region can be astronomically high in another. (Remembering Yabbit's quest for baking soda as an example...)

If you are wanting suggestions/help in setting/controlling/stretching/cooking within your budget, there are several who'd be willing to help (including myself).

Here are a few threads to get you started:

I actually like those easy recipes every so often.  Sometimes I can't think of what would be a good, quick, and easy combination for a meal, and those "mix crumbles, salsa, etc" recipes are useful.

My Recipe Box --> Preferences (in left-hand tool bar) --> Manage Labels --> type in a Label Name under Add New Label.

Make as many categories as you want.  They will show up on your left-hand tool bar.  Then, when you're saving a recipe and you get to the Add Recipe --> Save screen, you can use the Select Label drop down box to save the recipe into one of your categories.  For recipes you've already saved, there's a drop down box with all of your categories to the right of each recipe.  Select the category you want the recipe to go in and it's added to that category.

Thanks for all those links Hanashi.  That's very kind of you.  I'm glad to know there are others concerned about the cost of their meals who have shared their ideas.  Cheers!

For sure, I agree!  Living in an arid climate, produce can be a lot more expensive for me.  To clarify myself, I meant more like packaged/pre-cooked products, such as canned sauces, burger crumbles, soy cheese, etc.  It is my experience that these are generally much more expensive to use in cooking than fresh, unprocessed ingredients such as produce, legumes, grains, etc.

Not that the easy, preprepared recipes don't have their place either!  I buy some tofu and tempeh and canned enchildada sauce for my family as well when I don't have the energy for anything else.  But frankly, it's just not economically smart for us.  I also am kind of neurotic about what goes into our bodies, so I'm suspicious of ingredient lists, "natural flavors" the amount of salt, etc.

But as some have suggested, fixing the search engine could probably fix the problem for me.  I appreciate everyone's thoughts on this!

Excellent suggestions! I am adding them to my list!

Some of the changes will take a little time but I'll update you all when we roll the first batch out. We are working very hard on them...we want the site to be even more amazing! These suggestions really help!
