Hello Awesome People Who Know VegWeb Best!
As I'm getting to know the site and learning as much as I can, I thought I'd take a moment to get opinions on any changes you'd like to see. What do you like? Love? Want to throw out a window? Anything and everything! It's obvious the community is active and vibrant and so I KNOW you have some opinions! Let's hear 'em!

maybe i way to rank difficulty of the recipe? like, "easy"/"beginner", "advanced", etc.
i actually like that we don't have a rating system like that - i think that it scares some people off from trying something new they might not have tried otherwise. im pretty sure that by reading the recipes' directions people can figure out if it's a recipe they can handle/want to attempt.

i don't know if this has been fixed or not, but i've lost SO MANY recipes on here. i would spend so long typing them out and then when i submitted them i got a message saying it would show up eventually after being reviewed. then it just goes away forever... probably in the same land that steals all of my left socks.
i have mostly given up on submitting recipes.

Everyone - thank you so much for the suggestions, they're all going up on a board and we're going to do our best to make everything you want happen while still maintaining the integrity of the site! rainbowdust919 and theodamus...we have a large backlog of recipes that need to be posted and more and more are going up lately. In fact, I remember posting two from theodamus yesterday! check out the new recipe queue at http://vegweb.com/index.php?board=762.0 and see if yours are in line! In the future we're going to get recipes up in a very timely manner so hopefully this won't be a problem!
For now, as far as changing your recipes is concerned, if you notice typos or just want to make an improvement, send me the revised review text and a link to the original review and I'll fix it for you!

but how would it work? just block people from sending messages? i don't think it work so much on the public boards. you would be so lost missing out on bits of conversations.

Ooh I have another one...it would be great if we could click on people's names in chat to see their profiles, because it's really hard and hassely to find links to their profiles elsewhere to check who you're talking to if they aren't a forum poster.

that is one i have really wanted. back when i was a regular chatter and people would come into chat i felt SUPER uncomfortable chatting it up if i had no idea who they were, so i would have to open a new window and search for them. pain in the ass.

Along the lines of keeping the unread posts and recipes seperate. I dont know if anyone has said something like this yet, but on the side it'd be cool if there was an "New/Updated Recipes" link to go to that, because i do like looking through them from time to time.
And if the "Adult" section of the forum is started, make it an option for people to choose to not include the updates of said forum in the unread posts section maybe?
Ahhhh, i love that you're taking suggestions ;)b It makes me glad that we still have some one that cares about us in charge! (to be honest for a second i thought it was going to be taken over and changed for the worse, i saw this though and some other posts by you Laura and i'm glad to you have you in charge)
btw - i was kidding about wanting to be able to change our typos in when people quote us. i don't think we should be able to for other reasons...

(I know...you would think I would save the word documents of them...but I don't...maybe I should go copy them out...)

I want to be able to search for a recipe in my own box. There are times when I know I have bookmarked a recipe, but end up having to search the whole site for it instead of just mine.

capture, you should use firefox. everything is automatically spell checked as it's typed out. it saves me.

i agree completely. kmk, i *think* you might have been here last time we implemented the ignore feature. it was so messed up because people would get confused/angry or realize there was something "good" (aka a fight) going on and un-ignore people. i think this all comes down to just being mature adults and choosing to ignore the things that we know are pointless/going to get us into a rage/cause us to bait/flame/etc.
I think ignore features are good and useful but all they do is based on your own personal account settings prevent the "ignored" posters / posts / reviews from showing for you.
Which is great when people are mature enough not to treat it like a threat or use it to hurt others. I know this is the internet and people are rarely mature or nice but here at vegweb I have high hopes we can all be mature and nice. When that is impossible its always best to fall back to an ignore and the old stand by "If you cant say something nice, dont say anything at all" adage.
