Weekly Giveaway: The Wild Vegan Cookbook! NextGenMan is the winner!
Sometimes, before shopping day, it can really feel like you're foraging for food in your own house. Well, Wildman Steve Brill takes it a step further, and forages for foods in our backyards. And our neighbors backyards. And all over the city. In The Wild Vegan Cookbook: A Forager's Culinary Guide (in the Field or in the Supermarket) to Preparing and Savoring Wild (and Not So Wild) Natural Foods (http://www.amazon.com/Wild-Vegan-Cookbook-Supermarket-Preparing/dp/1558327215), Wildman Steve (hehe) shows us how to find the tastiest vegan foods all over town, usually at no cost to us! Seriously, I thought this guy was nuts until I read more about it, and it turns out he's perfectly sane and saving tons of money on groceries. That extra dough could really come in handy around the holidays, right? Even if you're not ready to dumpster dive, he's got tons of fabulous recipes that'll impress even the pickiest holiday dinner guest.

Thanksgiving! I love the food of the harvest, so my favourite side dish would have to be mashed sweet potatoes with vegan marshmallow topping!
Maple roasted yams no doubt :)
Mashed potatoes slathered in gravy. Hell, anything slathered in gravy!
TOTALLY mashed potatoes and gravy! and making it into a little volcano.
squash or sweet potatoes.
Sweet potatoes! But this year I'm making some kickass Roasted Brussels Sprouts, so they may take the #1 spot.
My favorite Thanksgiving side dish is stuffing with chopped up apple bits :)
Stuffing and grilled asparagus
Homemade (vegan-ized) green-bean casserole - no soup, etc., just whole foods ingredients.
homemade cranberry sauce and cornbread stuffing
What a brilliant idea for a cookbook! I love it.
My fav side dish is mashed potatoes. I've always loved them more than anything else on the table, even when I was omni or vegetarian. I love me some mashed potatoes, and if they're topped with The Vegan Table's mushroom gravy? HEAVEN.
Pie. I always start with pie, that way I get my pick before my brothers eat it all.
mashed potatoes, for sure. and i miss having them because my family always makes them with all kinds of dairy! this year i took my own portion out first though. yum
