Weekly Giveaway: Thrive Foods by Brendan Brazier! luvcupcakes is the winner!
I just got back from Portland, where I spent the weekend with the fabulous crew from VegNews at Vida Vegan Con, the first ever vegan blogging conference. It was probably the most fun you can have while sober, and I think we cleared Portland out of all its vegan food. I'm bummed to get back to real life, and definitely in need of some detox. To help me get healthy without going crazy, I checked out Thrive Foods by Brendan Brazier (http://www.amazon.com/Thrive-Foods-Plant-Based-Recipes-Health/dp/0738215112/ref=sr_1_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1300393325&sr=1-3). The superstar vegan athlete's latest book teaches you how to eat to live, instead of living to eat. Po-tay-to, po-tah-toe. Plus, its filled with all sorts of info on being the healthiest vegan you can be! I suggest you place the book next to a bag of vegan marshmallows in your pantry to achieve true balance.
To win a copy, let us know what your Labor Day plans are!
Giveaway ends Tuesday, September 6 at midnight, winner will be selected randomly, must live in USA to win.
p.s. Are you getting the VegWeb Weekly? It's our free and food-filled newsletter and you can sign up by just entering your email on the home page or on this page in the left hand bar!
Let's see...this weekend I'll be heading downtown for a festival called "Pig out in the Park", lots of great food, beer and little craft vendors. We also might go up to "Greenbluff" which is a HUGE area of town that grows tons of fruits and veggies that you can buy or even pick yourself, they're having a peach festival this weekend and they always have tons of activities for the kids and lots of good food too. Can't wait!
Nothing too fun planned, except cooking. I will be packing since I'm moving soon, but I don't know yet where I'm going. Divorce sucks.
Labor day is my birthday, but since I'm pregnant and huge, my plans include lying on the couch and eating cake.
We'll be celebrating our son's birthday (which is actually today) with him and his partner. Hope everyone has a fun and safe holiday weekend! :)
I plan on baking a lot of vegan challah for the High Holidays. Seriously, like 40 challahs.
Labor Day plan - to water my peach tree, water my tangerine tree, andthen get inside the house to stay cool while I grill red pepers and zuchini.
My plan for Labor Day is just to sleep in and relax!
Hopefully not working, drinking, and being outside on a beautiful day.
No food plans - I'm volunteering to at a local pig rescue sanctuary :) cleaning stalls, working on barns, all that good stuff. Plus I'll be home from University for the weekend.
Having some family/friends over for a vegan grill out. Then let all the kids make some homemade ice cream with our new ice cream maker. We'll go to the park to enjoy nature. It will be a blast and am looking foward to it. Might even go swimming at the park.
KikisMama sorry to hear that you are going through a divorce. Sending lots of love, peace and happy thoughts your way :) aquamoonmaiden congratulations on your pregnancy and Happy Birthday! Analyzing data... and maybe hitting the beach if I'm lucky :)
No serious labor day plans set yet, other than enjoying a day off from classes. I will actually probably end up cooking for a good portion of the day in order to have delicious vegan goods for the week :)
I plan on performing at the Page to Stage festival in DC and then relaxing and getting ready for the 2nd school week of my Senior year in college!! ;)b
drinking beer and getting some sun
unfortunately I will probably be scheduled to work.. but that is ok as long as i get the weekend for Portland Vegfest off.. :>
We're planning a picnic with family and a movie marathon night...cheers!
Does doing nothing count as plans?
I probably will sleep in and be lazy. Doesn't sound exciting, but I work 6 days a week, so to me it's very exciting!!
I will be having my six grown children over on Sunday to try out some vegan recipes for youngest daughter's upcoming wedding! We will also be relaxing and hopefully, canning some tomatoes!
I am going to my very first Penn State football game. Also celebrating my daughter's ninth birthday! I am looking forward to a fun weekend!
