Update: Recipe Editing!

Just wanted to let all you awesome VegWebbers know that you might notice a few small improvements in the recipes section. It's good news! Recipes are currently being edited by our kick-butt team of recipe ninjas (Allychristine, baypuppy, and humboldt_honey. My heroes, and seriously: so so so amazing) and recipes that are lacking ingredient quantities or adequate directions are either being fixed, or if that's impossible, removed. The end result is a cleaner and more user-friendly VegWeb, with 100% delicious recipes!

This is all in preparation for our fabulous new site! We've had a few hold-ups on getting that out but it's only because we want it to be perfect. It's coming at you very soon and I know you're going to love it.

If you have any questions, concerns or just want to chat (I love to chat!), feel free to email me ANYTIME, eval(unescape('%64%6f%63%75%6d%65%6e%74%2e%77%72%69%74%65%28%27%3c%61%20%68%72%65%66%3d%22%6d%61%69%6c%74%6f%3a%4c%61%75%72%61%40%56%65%67%57%65%62%2e%63%6f%6d%22%3e%4c%61%75%72%61%40%56%65%67%57%65%62%2e%63%6f%6d%3c%2f%61%3e%27%29%3b')).

i agree, i have never seen the new recipe que so clean!

i think though there should be some special contact button or something if you notice something on your recipe has been changed and isn't exactly what you pictured/ or meant/ or measured...

i know i can easily shoot these amazing peeps an email to fix it, but others might not know that

Yes! Definitely message with any problems or questions. I try to message new recipe submitters after I've edited to make sure they know they are able to contact me. We all try to clear up any issues with a message before submitting the final recipe. :)

I also wanted to add: If there's a recipe that you use/love, but you notice that it is lacking a lot of quantities in the ingredients, or vague in directions, go ahead and save it somewhere else. Copy and paste it into a document to save. We are removing recipes that are lacking sufficient quantities/directions, and can't be cleaned up, so save those if you want them. :) (not saying they will necessarily be deleted, but just in case!)
I do try to message a copy of the recipe to you if I see you have recently commented. Thanks!

Another thing! If you are submitting a new recipe (yay!), please try to add quantities for all ingredients/clear directions. I know a lot of us don't use exact quantities for everything when cooking, but it's good to have those starting quantities in the recipe. This way, the recipe can be edited-->posted a lot quicker. : D

Thank you! : ) You can message me, and I can try to help, or you could even post a thread in the Dine N Dish forum with the recipes you want help with. That way, others can help too!

I posted a recipe over a week ago... It's still under review and I have not been contacted. I also sent a follow up email and still no response. Is this typical? How long does it usually take for a recipe to be reviewed?

Hi, GreenieHappy - I looked it up and you submitted No Bake Nuttie Brownies on 7/28. We're currently on about 7/20.

There's no set amount of time it takes because we're volunteer editors, so we edit when we can. There's more or less of a backlog depending on how much editing recipes require. For example, if someone capitalizes all of the ingredients we have to uncapitalize them, abbreviates measurements like "tablespoon," lists their ingredients in a different order than the directions, doesn't include the ounce size of cans, writes direction that assume or skip steps, writes a lot of exposition which may obscure the steps, all of those things slow down the process. We also research unattributed recipes that may have been previously published, and ingredients if not known to be vegan. When we post a recipe, we want to have done our best to make sure it's vegan, precise, easy to follow (including for ESL people), and original.

Sometimes we have good runs and can get a lot done and sometimes it takes a half hour for a single recipe. I set a certain amount of time aside to edit in which I can do three or part of one, depending on how much editing is required. I never know until I start each time.
