Superstar VegWebber of the Week: tino_bambino!

tino_bambino (http://vegweb.com/index.php?action=profile;u=49775) is pretty much the best. Not only does she have pretty much perfect cooking music taste (both those groups are in heavy rotation in my kitchen!) but Donkey Sanctuary of Canada is THE GREATEST. I just donated every penny in my banking account to them. Okay, well, I left some in to buy ingredients to make the Ultimate Vegan Chili. I'm inspired! Thanks, tino_bambino!!

VegWeber since? for the past 5 years or so

Vegetarian/Vegan/?  Vegan!

Where do you call home? Lots of places. Wherever there are good people, good food, and preferably good people making good food and music. But I reside just outside Toronto, Ontario.

What do you do when you're not on vegweb? I play instruments, garden, make art, make lots of food, read, and take pictures. I'm also trying my hand at building a bike. I work at a restaurant whose focus is on local organic food, as well as at the Donkey Sanctuary of Canada (You should check it out, seriously!) and I volunteer with a queer and trans resource group, and at an organic community garden.

Do you have a blog?  Yup: www.guelphgraffitiblog.wordpress.com

Do you tweet? Nope

What's one unique thing about you? Really small things make me really happy, for instance, heart-shaped pot holes, notes left in the hollows of tree trunks, weird and exciting dreams, getting mail, and when my bunny Scampi tries to "help" me with laundry.

What's the best thing about being vegan? Satisfaction about being aware of how my food choices affect others, and becoming adventurous and discovering ingredients I never knew existed!

Favorite romantic recipe on VegWeb? Any vegan recipe is sexier than non-vegan, but if I had to choose, it'd be one of the vegan cheezecakes. I haven't tried any (yet), but anything of that sort is amazingly delicious and sexy.

Favorite recipe on VegWeb to make for non-vegans to show them how amazing vegan food can be? Ultimate Vegan Chili. It's so tasty and easy to make, and people are really surprised how good it is without animals in it.

Favorite recipe for 4th of July? Hmm well I don't celebrate the 4th of July as I live in Canada. But July 1st is Canada day, which has often meant BBQs. So it would be something like grilled veggies (asparagus for sure) with some hummus and pitas, and cold drinks.

One thing you wish you could make vegan but haven’t succeeded at yet? KD-type mac n cheeze sauce. But Nooch sauce is tasty too.

#1 Cooking secret/tip? don't overcook your vegetables!

Best music to cook by? dance music/electronica. I like Peaches. and the gossip.

Three people you'd most like to have dinner with? my friend Jill, my friend Clara, and hm...Liz Feldman!

All time favorite restaurant? a little cafe restaurant called the Cornerstone where I live. lots of vegan tasties!

French fries or ice cream? french fries

Soy milk, rice milk, almond milk? almond milk! but I usually get the cheaper option and go for soymilk

Tofu, tempeh, or seitan? tempeh by far! it's scrumptious and savoury.

yay tino!

I'd never heard of KD so make no claims as to authenticity, but we tried this vegandad recipe and found it to be quite tasty if you want to give it a spin...
