Superstar VegWebber of the week: Heliamphora!

This week's Superstar Vegwebber is Heliamphora, more commonly known on the threads as Heli! She is a fresh breath of New Zealand sunshine and looking through the threads, you won't find a more even tempered, sweet spirited person on the site! She's always making new people feel at home and is just totally lovely, Heli is the definition of Superstar Vegwebber!! Also, she has the best answer to Soy milk, rice milk, almond milk question EVER. Check out her profile here: http://vegweb.com/index.php?action=profile;u=64080 and read her fabulous answers to the questionnaire below and then let her know how truly, truly awesome she is!

VegWebber since ? October 2006, but I only began posting around July 2007, when I went vegan.

Vegetarian, Vegan or ... ? Beegan. (There, I'm making it public.) I am a vegan except for the fact that I eat honey.

Where do you call home? Christchurch, New Zealand is my birthplace and home, although I've lived in a few other cities.

What do you do when you're not on VegWeb? I work as a florist in a supermarket. I cook. I spend time with my new bf. I go shopping. I watch DVDs. I waste far too much time on VegWeb.

Do you have blog or website? Blogs, plural. Food: heliamphora.wordpress.com ... Poetry/blather: earthenwords.wordpress.com ... I had a website until I ran out of money to pay for it. (It will return, one day in the near future, to its home at www.earthenwords.net.nz.)

Do you tweet? Nope, Facebook is enough for me.

One unique thing should know about you? All the important choices I make in life stem from my love of the earth and its innate spirituality.

What’s the best thing about being vegan?  Pride in having learned to create lovely, nourishing food which causes as little harm as possible to this beautiful planet and its inhabitants.

Favorite romantic recipe on VegWeb? Umm, so far I have no experience in using food as a tool for romance. LOL.

Favorite recipe on VegWeb to make for non-vegans to show them how amazing vegan food can be? Well, my own creamy baby potato salad went down very well at a recent party, and someone at work wants my recipe. http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=25773.0

Favorite Holiday VegWeb recipe? I'm not so big with the traditional holiday foodz, being from New Zealand.

Best/Funniest/Most delicious/Most disasterous experience you've had making a recipe on VegWeb? Funniest: hummus on the ceiling!! thanks to the foolish notion of making it in a blender, and when it wouldn't move, trying to stir it with a wooden spoon.. then bumping the switch.

One thing you wish you could make vegan but haven’t succeeded at yet? I honestly can't think of any of my favourites which I haven't already veganised.

#1 Cooking secret/tip? One which springs to mind is, instead of buying expensive vanilla extract for baking, I just use vanilla soymilk in place of regular soymilk or water.

Best music to cook by? I almost always listen to a random mixture. But old rock like the Beatles or Pink Floyd is always good.

Three people you'd most like to have dinner with? I'm drawing a blank. Oh, wait! - Tori Amos.

All time favorite restaurant? Since I don't eat out much, I don't really have a favourite.

French fries or ice cream? French fries.

Soy milk, rice milk, almond milk? Yep.

Tempeh, tofu or seitan? Tempeh.

heli,

Congrats!!

ohyeah.... You might find this interesting, Anna:
One of the Flight of the Conchords dudes (Bret) appeared in two of the LOTR movies. he plays a yummy-looking elf at the Council of Elrond (in FotR) and an escort to Arwen during her departure to the Gray Havens (in RotK). yup.

aHA, yes....... in fact, there was a small mockumentary film made about Bret's elf, known as F.I.G.W.I.T ("Frodo is great... who is THAT?!"). He was evidently very lucky and/or unusual to go from a non-speaking part to a speaking role, albeit only one line, in the second movie. And this promotion was completely due to his cult popularity. My cousin helped to make and shoot the film about his character. Sadly, I wasn't able to make it to the leetle 'premiere' in Wellington, but my family went along, and said it was fun, especially the Q&A afterwards with Bret et al (and my cousin). 8-) I feel a smidgen of their awesomeness rubbing off onto me by association. ::) ;D
