Superstar VegWebber of the week: Hanashi!

Hanashi was the very first person to join me in the chat room. I was sitting in there, looking pathetic no doubt, and she came in and kept me company.  am forever grateful. I've come to learn that she is an important part of the community, always an excellent contributor who keeps it cool even in controversial threads. She also is very on top of letting me know about spam and so you can thank her for that! Check out Hanashi's profile here: http://vegweb.com/index.php?action=profile;u=80885 and read her excellent answers below! Oh and, Hanashi. After reading that story, I HAVE to try one of your homemade tofurky's (tofurkies? sp??)!

VegWebber since? November 2007

Vegetarian, Vegan or ? Been reared Pescatarian my entire life!

Where do you call home? Anywhere loved ones and good food are!

What do you do when you're not on VegWeb? Cooking!! Or chasing after the fabulous 3 y/o I nanny!

Do you have blog or website? one that I've neglected for too long.... tttp://hanashi.pnn.com

Do you tweet? nope

One unique thing should know about you? um.....I have an inner pterodactyl that likes to squawk A LOT

What’s the best thing about being vegan? I'm not...but one of the nice things about cooking/baking vegan is it is often cheaper than traditional baking...why use an expensive egg, when you can use bakingsoda/powder or healthier applesauce/over ripe banana??

Favorite romantic recipe on VegWeb? I really liked the peanut stew I found here back in march.....it has yet to be moved out of the 'new queue' so I haven't put in my 'tweaks/additions' to it...http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=27311.0 (Ed.: we moved it out, it's ready for your tweaks!)

Favorite recipe on VegWeb to make for non-vegans to show them how amazing vegan food can be? either the peanut stew, or the coconut black beans served/cooked with quinoa!

Favorite Holiday VegWeb recipe? traditional tasting tofurkey http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=7446.0 with a quinoa, walnut and tart cherry stuffing modified from another site

Best/Funniest/Most delicious/Most disastrous experience you've had making a recipe on VegWeb?
hmmmm.....well....as most of you know, I'm often the one who makes the 'alternative' food stuffs for get togethers.....I guess the best one was the second (or was it third?) time I made the tofurkey....I got tofu EVERYWHERE!!! I ran out of a few things in the process of making this beast (I generally use at least 6 lbs of tofu....normally more like 12?) My arms were covered with it, the body was cracking, would not hold together, I was nearing the point of tears in frustration....but, in the end it turned out!! you can see pictures of it on the page!

One thing you wish you could make vegan but haven’t succeeded at yet? I have yet to try.....but after hearing about many knights venturing forth, I am contemplating joining the quest to discover/perfect the home-made vegan marshmallow!!

#1 Cooking secret/tip? Don't be afraid to make a mess, or use your hands!!

Best music to cook by? Either something jammy like Dead, or 'harder/mellower' like Alice in Chains

Three people you'd most like to have dinner with? Mom, bff Zombie, and the most recent person questioning how I became how I am!

All time favorite restaurant? probably Ricardo's El Ranchito in So Cal....not very vegan, but has some of THE best mexican food that doesn't come from 'mom's' stove around!

French fries or ice cream? fries THEN ice cream

Soy milk, rice milk, almond milk? almond

Tempeh, tofu or seitan? tofu

Hanashi, you are definitely a SuperStar!  ;)b :)>>>
