Superstar VegWebber of the Week: Bohemian_Vegan!

We're back with a new Superstar VegWebber and she's a SUPERSTAR! Bohemian_Vegan (http://vegweb.com/index.php?action=profile;u=42013) is one sassy, smart, opinionated, brilliant lady, and we're so lucky she shares her sparkling personality and perhaps more importantly, delicious recipes with us (http://vegweb.com/index.php?action=profile;u=42013;sa=showRecipes)! Well, this is VegWeb so recipes will always come before everything else, right? Yay Bohemian_Vegan!

VegWebber since? February 15, 2005, 11:19:11 PM

Vegetarian, Vegan or ? Ovo- Vegetarian when I was 7 (very stubborn, opinionated little girl hahaha), Vegan since I was 13.

Where do you call home? Vancouver Island, Canada

What do you do when you're not on VegWeb? Work (lots!), Learn, Laugh, Smile, Fix old bicycles, Paint, Sew, Draw, Reading, Arts and Crafts (YAY!)

Do you have blog or website? Nope

Do you tweet? Nope

One unique thing should know about you? I collect mannequins and paint tattoos on them. At Halloween I dress them up and turn them to look outside to spook out my neighbours

What’s the best thing about being vegan? (if you are!) EVERYTHING! Being vegan is great because every day you promote non-aggression towards animals and our planet <3 You feel good, maintain a peaceful existence, and meet other really awesome people!

Favorite romantic recipe on VegWeb? Blackforest Mousse Pie (it is decadence incarnate!)

Favorite recipe on VegWeb to make for non-vegans to show them how amazing vegan food can be? Bean burgers. I am not going to select a favorite because there are too many wonderful recipes; but I have generally wowed many a non-veg with bean burgers (even completely converted my ex-roomate from real ones!).

Favorite healthy recipe on VegWeb? Bunnees Favorite Asparagus! Yum! (http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=11519.0)

Favorite VegWeb recipe for summer? Gazpacho soup!!!!!!!!! The Raw Avocado Gazpacho (http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=35498.0) is my current favorite.

One thing you wish you could make vegan but haven’t succeeded at yet? Pakoras! I love them, and I even worked in and Indian Food restaurant for a while and made the mix, but every time I try to fry them I end up lighting my kitchen on fire, so I stopped trying ><'

#1 Cooking secret/tip? How to get soft and chewy cookies. My uncle was a cookie connesuer (he actually owned his own cookie bakeshop once!) and he would put his cookie dough in the fridge overnight, then the next day bake it for only 10 mins and then let it cool 5 mins on the pan, then the rest of the way on the rack. MMMmmmm best cookies ever! Also, (vegan) vanilla pudding mix in cookies apparently makes them moist, but I've never tried.

Best music to cook by? Mala Vita, Gogol Bordello, Mano Negra, anything with beats!

Three people you'd most like to have dinner with? Wow, really? Does this question include all historical figures? Um... I'd have to pick Edgar Cayce, Nelson Mandela, and Albert Einstein!

All time favorite restaurant? I don't go out to eat much, but if I had to pick anywhere, I would say Rebar.

French fries or ice cream? Fries (yam fries!), but only if they've been drowned in vinegar for a good 5 mins first (I know its weird, but I love vinegar on pretty much any vegetable)

Soy milk, rice milk, almond milk? Almond Milk  I think I drank too much soy when I was young, because it gives me a stomach ache :S

Tofu, tempeh, or seitan? Tempeh! I like that the soybeans are whole, it is more unprocessed than tofu or seitan.

congrats!
