VegWebber since? April 2009

Vegetarian, Vegan or ? Vegan

Where do you call home? Mission Viejo, CA in the "OC"

What do you do when you're not on VegWeb? Play with my chihuahuas, cook, hangout at the pool, work, and go to school at CSUF (only 1 semester to go!).

Do you have blog or website? Nope, not that advanced in my computer skills yet unfortunately.

Do you tweet? Never have never will.

One unique thing should know about you? I am a chap stick addict.

What’s the best thing about being vegan? I feel so much healthier!

Favorite romantic recipe on VegWeb? I haven't tried any romantic recipes yet but I'm sure it would be something sweet.

Favorite recipes on VegWeb to make for non-vegans to show them how amazing vegan food can be? Taco Lasagna and Cream Cheese Wontons.

Favorite Holiday VegWeb recipes? This is Vegan??!?! Taco Dip and Amazing Pecan Pie

Best/Funniest/Most delicious/Most disastrous experience you've had making a recipe on VegWeb? Best and most delicious: General Tao's Tofu. Most disastrous: Coconut Macaroons.

One thing you wish you could make vegan but haven’t succeeded at yet? Nothing. Though I wish I could find some good vegan sliced and shredded cheese.

#1 Cooking secret/tip? Creole seasoning tastes awesome on almost anything!

Best music to cook by? Big fan of hip hop but usually have the TV on when I am cooking.

Three people you'd most like to have dinner with? Jesus, Wentworth Miller (my celeb crush), and Lil Wayne (fave rapper).

All time favorite restaurant? Native Foods (many California locations) and Wheel of Life (Irvine, California) both are vegan.

French fries or ice cream? That's a hard one but I would have to go with french fries because I am obsessed with ketchup!

Soy milk, rice milk, almond milk? I love White Wave light soy milk, all flavors, but I want to give rice and almond milk a try they sound yummy.

Tempeh, tofu or seitan? I just started cooking with seitan and it is awesome! Tofu is still number 1 in my book because it soaks up flavor so well. I can't stand tempeh but I am probably not cooking it right.

Just one quick note...Amy, you have to try Daiya Cheese! It melts and stretches and is amazing! I think you can only get it from Pangea Vegan Store right now but it's worth it!!

Yay!  This is well-deserved.  Amy, I always appreciate your recipe reviews!  You really are an awesome part of VegWeb and you keep trying new recipes!  In fact, when I see you like a recipe, it makes me more likely to try it myself!  Thank  you.

congrats, although I hope in the future some of the oldtimers that have put so much into vegweb will be noticed.  There are so many great people that post on a daily basis and contribute in so many ways!

Congrats, Amy and thanks for all you do!

I think it's good to mix things up. It would suck to think that if you haven't been around for x amount of time you can't be VWOTW.

Nice to see a relatively new person who's been such a boon to the site gettin' some representin'.

I have to say, I think that amy is a great addition to the site - I love her reviews and nommy looking photos.  Like moonkeymama I often look at the recipes amy has tried and think, well if she likes it it must be worth trying.

and congrats again! I'm constantly impressed with how many recipe reviews and beautiful photos you submit - I wish I had the time to try that many new recipes! : )  Keep up the good work, and venture over to the chit chat when you have time so we can get to know you better! : )

Congrats.  You take great food pics.  Have you seen the Lost Recipe Club! thread?  It's yet another vegweb effort organized by baypuppy to get up photos of recipes that don't have food pics.

I don't think that's what lubi was saying, jc.  There have been people who have made sustained efforts for years that aren't recognized.  The people who have won thus far, including me, are relatively recent additions.  For example, can you imagine the Civil War without Cali's calming words?  Or have a special event without her brilliant menu planning help?  But there are 52 weeks in a year, so I assume we'll get to everyone.

i think this is quite rude to the current vegwebber of the week.  of course there are many who should be recognized, this week it's amy and she deserves it.

sorry Moonkey, I didn't mean for it to sound rude.

Well, maybe I misunderstood. Sorry about that. My line of thinking was kinda like Moonkeymama's.

Everybody will get their week, and I have no doubts we'll see Cali, Yabbit, BP, L2A, and lots of others up front and center soon.

This week it's Amy's week!  ;)b

I don't think it was rude.  We have all congratualted amymylove.  She takes great food pics.  We want her around more.  It was a minor observation until it was made into something more.

Why is it only women who are winning?  ;)

If it were the other way round someone would be being hauled in front of HR to answer the accusation of sexist discrimination!

Congratulations Amy!!  Thank you so much for your contributions in pictures and reviews! That is what I think makes VegWeb great, the many and varied ways people can participate to make our community thrive.

Everyone here is a superstar and will be recognized in due time I am sure.  While it is tempting to want to see the people that make an impact upon you personally, I think congratulating the current superstar is important.  Should it be the "Old timers" first? I dont know.  Should it be a name drawn out of a hat? I dont know that either.  I do know that its great to recognize our participants no matter what order they become superstars.

Just remember that everyone here is awesome, no matter who's name is atop the weekly thread.
