New Forums!

Hey All!

Just wanted to say that we're reading over all of your feedback in the other threads about the new look of the forums. Decided to start a thread dedicated to all things new forums! If you have any questions, concerns, comments, praise (!?), or anything else, please leave it here! We take everything you have to say very seriously and will be discussing it at our meetings.

If you don't feel comfortable posting in a forum, you can always email me: laura at vegweb dot com.

Thanks!
Laura

This is semi-unrelated, but I want to remind/bring attention to the fact that all of the "official" review threads are linked in a sticky that's in Vegweb O Rama. Here: http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=27527.0
That's an easy way to find a review thread. : )

Thanks.  Yeah, I thought about that, but I couldn't think where it would be either.  ;D  Now I know.

Thanks, AC. I couldn't find it. Was wondering why it's not in the Dine Dish category where the cookbooks are. I'm sure there's a logical reason but I'm just a little confused and having a hard time finding things.

Well, do you think that's a better place? It encompasses a few categories, so it was hard to decide where it should be. It could go Dine n dish, or package... ?

Thank you for getting back to me, AC. :) I guess I was used to finding the review updates in the food section before. Still getting used to navigating the different forums. There is a lot of creativity and vision in the VegWeb community concerning the forums which is really wonderful.

A suggestion ... if you'll allow me this metaphor. I look at VegWeb in many ways the way I do a newspaper. I go to the main News section to read about Obama. I go to the Food section to find recipes. I go to Calendar for movie reviews. Sports section for baseball scores, etc. You get the idea. One word name sections that are easy to find and remember. Maybe something similar for VegWeb?

Just a thought, but if most are happy with the new forum layout I will happily adapt. Thank you for your consideration.

I will happily move the sticky review thread to dine and dish!

You can make two of those.  Make a duplicate wherever you think it's needed.

Yay! Thank you.

I would like to have an ignore function; therefore, I wouldn't have to avoid a whole thread if parts of it were avoidable.

I like the new forums.  There's a lot I'm not interested in such parenting and sex and female stuff and poop.  Nice there are forums for that stuff.  w00t

Yeah, I'm really enjoying them.  I like that I can make a post about what to do with my old bottle collection in the crafts section without feeling like I'm pestering people who aren't interested.

I'd still like the boards thematically organized.

We should be able to order our own threads, or have a folder with our "favorite" threads that we can add threads to.
the titles confuse me a bit and deter me from clicking. :|

I dont understand why there would need to be new forums.  These seem to be doing just fine and all the new stuff is at the top.  I cant remember but it seems to me like all the old posts were deleted.

Titles as in sub forums which are still as messy as hell when I kicked up an ignored fuss?

I concur. There are an astounding number of threads which I don't read, and if I had favouritable threads, I could just ignore the dross.

Sometimes I lose track of the coolest topics because they fall off the first page of threads. This was bad enough when there were only three forums. Now, there are quite likely a few which I've unwillingly abandoned because I don't even know which forum they're now in.

I'm not complaining about the multi-multi forums. I just wish it were easier to keep track of the bits and pieces I like best which are scattered over many places.

I think an app for my iphone would be great so when I am at the store I can quickly access ingredients for recipes instead of having to print...

Since you're a member, you can take advantage of the weekly meal planner and grocery list functions and then access them by going to vegweb in safari while you're at the store.
