Big announcement from VegWeb.com

After much contemplation, I have decided to step down as administrator of VegWeb.com. I miss spending time with my family and that is my number one goal right now. Because I want what is best for VegWeb.com, I naturally thought of VegNews to take over the site. VegNews is known for its excellent publication, VegNews Magazine, and has an impeccable reputation within the vegan community. So I am excited today to announce that VegNews has agreed to take over VegWeb.com. VegWeb.com will remain separate from VegNews' website, vegnews.com, but VegNews will be able to apply their resources toward maintaining VegWeb.com. What this means for you is that there will be an active staff working to add recipes, answer email, run the forums, and everything in between.

I am happy to tell you that Laura from VegNews will be the new administrator for VegWeb.com, and I know she will do a terrific job. I have full confidence that she will expertly handle the little ups and downs that occur in the forum. She is already helping to add recipes in the queue and is familiarizing herself with the administrative areas of the site. Laura will be posting here shortly to introduce herself—I know you will enjoy having her in the community.

I would like to thank all of you for helping to make VegWeb.com what it is today. It is your recipes, reviews, helpful comments, and more that make VegWeb.com such a wonderful, welcoming place. I look forward to seeing it not only grow, but thrive under VegNews' administration. I have registered under the username of yvette, and I look forward to being a part of the community for some time to come.

Laura will primarily be using her Webmistress Laura account for all administrative purposes. The "admin" account will remain available for use by VegNews staff in general.

Yvette, thank you for your graciousness, devotion, and unwavering commitment. You are a true pioneer and will forever be recognized for your monumental contribution to the vegetarian community. With thriving discussion forums and enough recipes to keep us cooking for years to come, you, along with your incredible community, created a site that many of us can’t imagine living without. As you transition into your post-VegWeb.com life, we at VegNews couldn’t be more honored to carry on the work of such a remarkable individual. You have the set the bar high, and we will do everything in our power to continually make you proud of the site you founded thirteen years ago. Hello VegWeb!

First, I want to say so many thanks to Yvette for creating such an amazing site. When I first became vegan six years ago, VegWeb was the first site I looked to for a few simple recipes to save me from the newly vegan default diet of french fries at every meal. As I became more familiar with veganism and with VegWeb, I began to branch out and experiment with recipes I never dreamt of trying before. Soon, I was cooking up vegan feasts for my family! I've made everything from "chicken" potpies to tofu palak paneer to raspberry "cheesecakes", all from the pages of VegWeb. Not only is it an amazing resource for vegans, it's my go-to site for anyone who is vegan curious—I tell them to check it out and see just how creative, simple, and delicious vegan cooking can be. I even have my unrepentant carnivore-of-a-dad whipping up vegan french toast!

Obviously, VegWeb holds a special place in my heart (and more importantly, my stomach), and I'm so excited to become even more familiar with the site. As many of you know, VegWeb isn't only a recipe site, it's also a thriving community with active forums, chat rooms, and a place for interesting articles and valuable coupons.You can even post a blog—too cool! I look forward to becoming more involved with all aspects of the site as I settle in during the coming months. Feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns, or just to say hi! And as usual, please keep the delicious recipes coming.

I knew it!  I told my co-worker this morning that VegNews was going to take over vegweb because you had lunch with VegNews yesterday or the day before.

What types of changes?  I'm-from-the-government,-I'm-here-to-help type changes or improvement changes?  (I've noticed that admin went orange, but that's it.)
