Any Other Single Vegans Here?

I'll tell ya....

Life can be hard, when you're a vegan, and single....

Personally, I could share my life with someone who ate animal products. And there's so few of us out there. I can count on one hand the women I've dated in the last 10-15 years....

Any other single vegans out there? Share your stories!!!

I was single for 6 years, and I just recently started dating someone. He's a total country boy, meat 'n taters kind of guy,  but is totally understanding about my diet, and open minded to new things/ideas.

Like :) Like a lot! How is it going?

This is way late, but it's been almost 6 months now and it's going great. He actually made me vegan cinnamon rolls this morning! I'm pretty sure he's a keeper.

How do you learn to trust again?

In all honesty, I don't WANT to be single for the rest of my life, but because of things that have happened, I find it hard to trust that another man won't do the same thing to me that my son's daddy did?  How do you make yourself believe that some men out there are indeed good, not all of them are jerks?

most of them are douche bags but you'll find a good one when the time is right

I've been a single vegan since the Monday before Thanksgiving. I miss my ex a lot and still feel like shit about the whole thing.
However, I sort of started seeing someone new recently. I wasn't seeking it out, we just knew each other through mutual friends and he kinda went in for the kill when he found out I was newly single. I feel nervous about the whole thing because I'm not in new relationship-mode and he really wants me to be. Blah.

Yup. I don't mind being single though. I would rather find a vegetarian or even better a vegan guy to date than to date a meat-eater. Obviously, a veg guy would share many of my values, but in the end it is just easier. I have found I have had to defend and justify my lifestyle to carnies, which gets old really fast. I have dated a vegan guy and the relationship was so much more meaningful too. As hard as it is, I think that it is worth waiting for someone who shares my vaules than compromising.

I really wish I could find a nice vegan guy to date. Honestly, just a nice guy would do. In all honesty, I have never been on a date in my life. I've never had a boyfriend - guys have never even expressed interest in me (i'm socially awkward). Maybe I'm just too picky, but I would like to SOMEDAY actually go out on a date with someone. I think I'm the only 20 year old in the world who has never been on a date. Wow, do I sound lame!

I find dating even just vegetarians is so much easier for me than carnivores. Though I prefer vegan guys. However, any guy I've dated or even seen casually as always been respectful to me about my lifestyle choice and will suggest places to eat that they know I can eat at or offer to buy me something I can eat.

I'm single but it's because I choose to be. There's no one good enough for me where I am right now and I'm content waiting.

I was planning to avoid the Sweet & Sour forum because I figured it would just make me unhappy (now maybe if it were the Bitter & Rancid forum...), but somehow I ended up here and noticed:

I think I'm the only 20 year old in the world who has never been on a date.

I don't know if it makes you feel any better, but I'm 30 and I've never been on a date either.

......

:'( (Aah, I feel lonely. I knew I should have stayed away from this forum.)

I’m single.
I’ve always been a “friends first” type of person, but as far as dating non-vegans goes, I don’t have a problem with it.
I wasn’t always a vegan, but I was always a pretty good person...so I don’t judge people personally on it.

I'm single too, 20 years old, and never had a boyfriend. Everyone is pairing off now at college, and I feel really alone, but there really isn't anyone who is my 'type' around. Doesn't stop me from doubting myself and having low self esteem.  :-\

BIG HUGS :bear2:  for dannibazaar, kuzu, and Dragonfly51990.
And honestly, i think "dating" is overrated anyway..."friends first" has always seemed to be more fun.

Too many in the veg community think we are all alike in ALL ways. For one, I know so many just assume you are liberal or left because of it. That's got to change because we really are diverse. The thing is, others don't know it because they don't speak up like the others!  They are "in the closet" if you will, so we all assume vegans are the same, but we are not.

Isn't this the truth!!!  I'm so sick of people assuming that I am liberal just because I am vegetarian.  I think being a vegetarian and conservative goes hand in hand.. what better way to show you are Pro-Life than not eating animals!  Makes sense to me.  ;)
Now if I could only meet a Conservative Christian Vegetarian Runner --- now that's my man!  I know though...way too picky.

Single too. :( There isn't really any vegans nor vegetarians in my community that are avaliable.

We're good people. Karma, right?
We'd rather be alone and able to express our beliefs than in a bad relationship.
I just gots to keep repeating that to myself.
But there are sometimes when I just want to be held.
I feel like I'm waiting for my life to begin, which isn't really healthy.

I'm single and have been throughout college also. Grrr its sometimes really frustrating, especially since in college there is more of a "hook up culture", and that's not something I like to routinely do (haha). I've learned to be open-minded in terms of other peoples' beliefs. I also tend to be a little guarded about my own personal views, especially the animal rights issues because I think it might scare off some guys. But perhaps this isn't exactly working in my favor, because its who I am. Anyways, singledom sucks!
