Any Other Single Vegans Here?

I'll tell ya....

Life can be hard, when you're a vegan, and single....

Personally, I could share my life with someone who ate animal products. And there's so few of us out there. I can count on one hand the women I've dated in the last 10-15 years....

Any other single vegans out there? Share your stories!!!

I am but by choice!

However, one of my exes was REALLY into meat and that's pretty much all he ate was meat and cheese. Me being vegan and him being really into meat wasn't a problem but we weren't very compatable because of the reasons why I'm a vegan.

Unfortunately. I don't want to limit my dating pool too much, because I'm having a hard enough time as it is, but ultimately, I don't want there to be meat in my refrigerator when I get married. Dairy products I could live with.

My biggest issue is that I can't seem to find a sensible guy who is both vegan and who doesn't have an aversion to organized religion. I find guys online and they're like "yeah, you seem great . . . we could probably be friends . . . but I have a phobia of religion, so I can't date you. Sorry."  And then guys who are religious think I'm too liberal, or don't get the vegan thing. Argh.

WE NEED TO BE BEST FRIENDS.  I have the same problems.  I always feel like I'm going to be single forever because I'm just too eclectic compared to most guys.

The only problem that I really hate about dating someone who eats meat is meat breath.
Or when you can taste it in their mouth.

^ thats just gross and I am so glad that most of the people I have dated and have friendships are open minded when it comes to food and most lean to some form of minimal meat eating.

Single and hating it
But the omnis I've dated have insisted on trying to get me to give up being vegan. Its so annoying, and the vegans I meet turn out to be from miles and miles away, and no matter how well we get along we never run into eachother again. Its sad.

Maybe when I move to California I'll have a better chance at getting a date.

im a single vegan. it has it's ups and downs. i miss having someone around to share with, but it gives me time to work out problems in my own life at the same time. anyways it seems like there are alot of immoral/psychotic young adults out there, so im happy keeping to myself for the most part  :) btw this is my first post on here ever!

It's extremely disgusting.

Unfortunately, most of the veg*ns I've met are either snobby or into some weird shit. The meat eaters that I have dated are usually anti-veg*n (go figure).

Been a vegan for more than 40 years and been single for long enough now. I LOVE love...

So where are all you yummy single vegan ladies? Do you all have the past draggin you down into the muck that keeps you from shining your light bright enough so you attract that vegan man (me maybe?) into your life? Don't give up on your dreams!!!  No matter who you dated, no matter how bizarre the experience was.

I'm feeling like we all need to get over our past bad relationship experiences. Take a deep breath and while exhaling, blow all those yucky memories into a balloon, tie it up and release it to float off into the stratosphere. Bye bye baybeh!

Now bring it on, dahlin. We got much more room inside and we are ready for L-O-V-E!  :)>>>

Doesn't that sound WAY better?

I want a vegan lady by my side because I know that she will have an elevated consciousness... one that has a high respect for life. She has risen above the mediocracy of the masses of mindless eating habits. And at that level of vibration, she has thoughts of how a healthy society can function. She puts her focus on what she wants, because she understands universal laws. By keeping herself clean and clear, these things are blazingly evident.

It's much more efficient to just ask for what you want, doncha think? There are TONS of us veg*ns out here that could use some lovin. Resist putting veg*ns into a category and simply intend on being with that veg*n mate you have envisioned. Imagine how great it will be to share your life with someone on the same wave length. This is how it is supposed to be! It's called magic!

C'mon y'all! Let's build this sort of community worldwide where our focus is on what we want! What better place to start than right here on this veggie board?!? We have a head start on the rest of the world. Let's make it how we want it!

(At this point, the crowd explodes to their feet in a frenzy of thunderous clapping)  :)

Yup single for the first time in 10 years and when someone hears you are vegan/veggie they pretty much run the other way. I am not a freak or crazy, just have a lifestyle. Anyone else experience this? I just want to met a nice, open minded guy who doesn't get hung up on me not eating meat.

I have the same issue they hear vegan and bolt.  I don't think i could be with someone who ate meat i could handle a vegitarian but i tried dating omnivores and they always have to be an asshole about eating out.  I have worked in the food biz and just prefer not eating anything i don't know is exactly in it, so i cook and someone always has to make a smart ass comment about having to eat rabbit food

I've never really had a problem when telling them that I'm a vegan, they usually don't care what I eat or don't eat. The people who give you a hassle about it aren't worth it anyway and it's a pretty good indicator of assholenss.

Just kind of getting over the licking-my-wounds-phase after a seven year relationship with a vegetarian (and I was also vegetarian, transitioning into veganism now), and feeling like I might be ready to date... though I have kinda run scared from the last few people who showed an interest, so maybe not quite there yet :) Beginning to think about it, anyway.

I hadn't quite gotten to the point of considering dietary choices of potential partners, but I think I could handle an omnivore who ate 'ethically' farmed organic meat & dairy. I don't think I could be with someone who really didn't give a shit where his food came from and at what cost - shared values are important to me. Someone being vegetarian or vegan would make life a lot simpler... but hey, maybe I'll fall madly in love and throw all my principles to the wind, who knows :)

I feel both of you.  It's hard to meet guys who respect all the different things I believe and aren't all into meat.  Even though I'm near LA, most of the guys I'm attracted to are really into meat! It's frustrating.

I was single for 6 years, and I just recently started dating someone. He's a total country boy, meat 'n taters kind of guy,  but is totally understanding about my diet, and open minded to new things/ideas.

I'm not like any other vegans I know (except maybe Lubi). How many other gay republican vegans who love country music do you know?

******************************
Too many in the veg community think we are all alike in ALL ways. For one, I know so many just assume you are liberal or left because of it. That's got to change because we really are diverse. The thing is, others don't know it because they don't speak up like the others!  They are "in the closet" if you will, so we all assume vegans are the same, but we are not.

Routinely Veg News gets letters chastising them for their assumptions about their readership.  I think they are listening.

Thanks for speaking up.

I am not single right now but boy do I relate!  I have spiritual interests and I don't need to talk about with everyone nor do I have zero interest in changing any one but I swear, there is so much intolerance of spirituality/religion with so many vegans!  It's a shame. They feel they are so open but not, really.  I love veganism and I am so glad I know so many vegans but I keep my mouth shut about spiritual interests because so many have reacted so negatively.

I'll give an example...  One time I was talking to a vegan gal about convincing Christians to go veg.  I am not Christian but I don't hate them at all....we were just talking strategies.  I brought up the word "yoga" and she angrily retorted "we don't believe in that *hit"!  I was so taken back, I was stunned. But this is what I've experienced a lot.

Full time working vegan (mostly) single mother of a 2 year old boy.

After the way I was treated by my son's daddy, I have NO interest in men.  I know it isn't true, but I have met so many single mothers with similar and more horrible stores to my own that I have grown a deep rooted beliefe that men are weak minded jerks who care nothing for anybody but themselves and only want to F*%k you, get you pregnant then vanish leaving you pregnant, alone, terrifed, and faced with raising a child by yourself.

The government helps a little with the child support thing, but how does that get me 8 hours of sleep a night, or even 3 hours of personal time a week so I can go to the gym, or how does that help with a screaming toddler at the grocery store when I have no body to leave him with to avoid those issues?

Sorry, I just lost interest in men, even my sex drive has virtually vanished.  Just don't care, don't want to be a single mother to TWO kids!!!!  One kid is hard enough, if I get involved with another man, that is what will happen...no thank you!
