hair color during pregnancy
I remember with my first pregnancy, I was too scared to color my hair, but I didn't have this many grey roots either. I have the color, just not sure I want to use it.
I got my hair highlighted for my birthday last month. I was a little over 26 weeks. How far along are you?
I think probably paranoid. This main thing is proper ventilation. It is a very personal choice. It never helps that people feel it is necessary and appropriate to publically judge every single thing a pregnant woman may or may not do. It is annoying.
My OB is great (and the entire staff). I'm just veg, but I don't eat eggs and I don't go out of my way to eat dairy. They are all great about it and apparently have had tons of vegan patients. Even the hospital/birthing center I'm delivering at has VEGAN meals.
Congrats on making it to the second trimester (this pregnancy shit can be dicey). I have like 8 - 10 (ish) weeks left.
That is a BIG baby! I hope my baby is healthy, but not that big. Girl, I might die!
38 weeks & I just used Aveda's demi-permanent color yesterday.
I avoided hair dye, nail polish, makeup, perfume, etc. when I was pregnant with my daughter, but I think I may be a touch paranoid. There's so much that can be absorbed through the skin and even if it's all natural, it doesn't mean it's healthy for her system. On the upside, no worries about upkeep. xD I just rolled out of bed in the morning and went with it.
Sorry for this delayed reply, but I thought I'd contribute a thought or 2. :) I'm not sure what your main concern is with coloring your hair, except maybe perhaps toxicity level? But, if you must color your hair, I personally would only use products that are 100% non-toxic and earth friendly. In addition to being vegan, I'm also green and organic and I use zero petro-chemicals and irritants on my skin and in my hair, especially now that I'm pregnant. I have a few gray hairs on my head at my 41 years of age, but I'd rather go all gray than put 1 toxic chemical on my head; it's just not worth it. But if I did color it, I'd use henna, it's safe. Anyway, good luck, I hope it all works out well for you. Peace and Warm Wishes to you. :)
