Whats your favorite store bought cereal?

When I went on my crash diet at first all I ate was cereal.... Then I realized the calories to amount of food ratio was actually pretty crappy.  I then stopped eating it for a while but now I have it on occasion.
So my question is what are your favorite store bought cereals?  Mine are:
Kashi Go Lean High Protein & High Fiber Cereal (I just found this a few weeks ago and love it!)
Shreaded Wheat (I prefer the plain but I still like the frosted)
Raisin Bran (tons of sugar but its a delicious classic)

thanks for filling me in. you're super smart. haha.
i need to find a new cereal then. i didn't know i was eating wool.
gross, i feel awful now.

Is frosted shredded wheat vegan!?
o___O!

not that brand - it has gelatin in it.  but if you look through this thread you'll find a few other suggestions for different brands that are vegan.. wf, kashi, etc.

Barbara's Bakery Shredded Wheat--I had to stop buying it because I would eat too much of it. Also Nature's Path Oat Bran flakes.

Also, the Whole Foods Peanut Butter Pow pows but I am assuming you are looking for something healthy.

I just tried EnviroKidz Organic Koala Crisp Cereal and really enjoyed it. It tastes like Cocoa Krispies cereal but not as sweet, gluten-free and a better crunch. I also like it because it leaves the milk in my cereal bowl just a little bit chocolatey.

Be careful with the frosted cerials.  Alot of times they use gelatin which is an animal product in the frosting.  Pop Tarts are one of the other items that uses gelatine.  I like the Total cerials as they taste good and are fortified with 100% of certain vitamins daily allowance.

target archers farms brand has some good vegan ones - a high protein flakes & clusters something or other.. and low fat mixed berry, maybe more.

Cascadian Farms Cinnamon Crunch. That stuff is like crack. I don't even eat it with milk, just straight. Yummmmmm.

Panda Puffs Peanut Butter Cereal by Envirokids. I could live on this stuff. I like the all of their cereals, but the PB the best. It's like Capn' Crunch!!!!

Rainforest Granola - you can often find it in the bulk bins, I think the brand is Golden Temple but I'm not certain.  It's so good I eat way too much of it when I have it.

I tried the Special K with Berries after Kelloggs wrote me back to say they were free of animal-derived ingredients. Good crunchy sweet flakes and freeze dried strawberries that surprisingly taste pretty good. I still go for the less commercial brands but was happy to learn that Kelloggs does give me a few more choices.

I copied the customer service response below which I posted in another thread.

"Thanks for your email about our vegan cereals!

The animal derived ingredients we use in cereals includes gelatin (in the
frosting of Mini-Wheats and in cereals with marshmallow bits), vitamin D (see
more information below), or whey (used in Special K for added protein). The
following cereals do not have any of these ingredients and as of Dec 2007 are
free of animal derived products:

Mini-Wheats ® Unfrosted Bite Size
SK Protein Plus
SK Red Berries

We appreciate your interest in our company and products."

Saskia, thank you so much for posting that!  I just read through this thread and now know I need to replace my Cheerios with Special K Red Berries!  I never would have thought Cheerios had wool--I totally thought it was vegan!  Special K Red Berries is very tasty though so I'll go back to buying that.

vitamin D comes from sheep's wool.
I used to love the Special K when it was those really small flakes. I wish they still made those!

Your welcome. I'm really liking the Special K with Berries and want to try the Special K Protein Plus as well. I like Cheerios too and hope I can find a vegan version. Unfortunately I read also that the Trader Joe's O's(their version of Cheerios) is not vegan either because of its sheep-derived Vitamin D.

Yes! I was so excited to find that cereal! Yum!

Now in Berlin I eat Mini Zimtos, which are super sweet and cinnamony and delicious, just how I remember cinnamon toast crunch. The cereal selection here isn't too good. It's mostly mueslix with honey. So I started making my own granola. But Mini Zimtos... mmmmmm!

:bump: because I just bought some cinnamon toast crunch, and it has no milk, and it is amazing.
