Odwalla Lovers--New Seasonal Super Protein Pumpkin Flavor Available Now!

I just saw these Odwalla Super Protein Pumpkin nutritional drinks at my local grocery store, Von's, 2/$5 on sale.  (Usually, you'll find these drinks in a cold case near the produce section.)  Of course, pumpkin lover that I am, I picked up a couple.  They're really tasty, like liquid pumpkin pie.  I just love the seasonal flavors of the soymilks, too (remember the wonderful Vitasoy peppermint chocolate soymilk from winter?--stockpiled it!).  Another upcoming seasonal item I'm looking forward to is the Silk Nog--mmmm!

Here's a link to this drink on the company website:

because it came up...can anyone tell me if ALL the odwalla products are vegan...They sell them at my school cafeteria and I never have more than a min or two in there...so last week I picked one up, read it and the ingredients on that particular one were vegan so I bought it and didn't look t the rest....It would be handy to know thought...

I wish I could tell you which ones aren't vegan, Vegheadzealia.  I checked on the website and didn't see that info.  I'm going to try to call tomorrow to check.  I do know that some of the Odwalla drinks contain bee products (such as honey or royal jelly) or at least they used to, but beyond that I don't know of any other non-vegan ingredients.  I do see "natural flavors" in the ingredients in this one, so I'm going to inquire about it.

I just can imagine the cakes and pies you can make with all those seasonal flavors.

I'm really glad you posted this this morning because I saw this flavor at lunchtime & picked it up. I probably wouldn't have picked it up if you didn't post about it because 1. the flavor sounds kindof strange for a drink and 2. I wouldn't have guessed it was dairy free without reading the label. I'm saving it for my after gym drink later today.

Zealia, I know some of the protien drinks have dairy in them, but I think the "soy smart" ones dont. And the only bars I've checked out are the chocolate (I think its called the chocowalla) & the chocolate peanut. Pretty sure they are both dairy free, but I'm no expert. I hope they are because they are tasty.

OK, I just got off the phone with Odwalla.  I inquired as to which of their drinks were vegan.  I told the woman, Verna, that I spoke with that I remembered some drinks years ago having bee products.  I also asked specifically about the pumpkin having natural flavors and calcium.  Good news for us vegans--only 1 Odwalla drink is not vegan and that is the Wellness nutritional drink because it has honey.  The woman I spoke with said that the Superfood used to have royal jelly, but was reformulated and is now vegan, due to complaints about it being nonvegan.  The woman I spoke with was so nice, friendly, and helpful.  She said they're very careful to make sure all of their products (except the Wellness drink) contain only vegan ingredients as the majority of their customers are very serious about their veganism.  I reiterate--ALL ODWALLA DRINKS ARE VEGAN EXCEPT WELLNESS!  (Oh, and the bars, too; I asked about those, also.)  Woohoo for vegans!

That sounds awesome.  Thanks for the info!

I think it is the Naked Juice company that has many whey protein drinks.  All those fancy juice bottles kind of look the same, so I just have to check the labels carefully before buying.

That's great news about Odwalla!

No problem, Storm!  I wanted to be sure for myself, and I'm happy to share the information with everyone here.

I checked at my grocery store tonight to see if they had this flavor, and they didn't... :'( I am hoping to find it at a different store tomorrow! I can't wait to try it! :)

I agree the pumpkin one is quite yummy! It's not too thick, like I half expected. Probably all the flavors would be good. Something I didn't like though is that the nut label lists the bottle as two servings. So its over 300 calories if you drink the whole thing. I drank half & put hte rest in the fridge & told my husband to try it.

Yeah, I hate that those bottles are two servings! I guess I'm glad I can see the nutrition contents at all, but it'd be nice if I could sip down the whole thing & not take in so many calories! Oh, well... I guess I'll have to savor it that much more. :)

Hope it's ok that I bumped up this old thread.

So now that I am addicted to the Super Protein Pumpkin Drink, I am going to be very sad when it's no longer available. I'm wondering if I can stockpile a bunch & freeze it. Has anyone tried this?

My Wild Oats (Whole Foods) just started carrying this flavor two weeks ago and they are so awesome!  It's like drinking a pumpkin pie! :)

I'm wondering if I can stockpile a bunch & freeze it. Has anyone tried this?

EDIT:
I just spoke with Connie at Odwalla and she said that they have not done any tests themselves on the "freezability" of Odwalla.  She did say that the soy-based drinks, like the Pumpkin, will likely separate but if it re-homogenizes when thawed and shaken it should be ok.  Freezing it will not "damage" it, though it might lose a small amount of nutrients.  I think it's time for an Odwalla freezing experiment! :)
