new vegan finds!

i'd like to start a thread of new things you happen across or discover that are vegan.  i browse around in the grocery store quite a bit, reading labels, and sometimes find some pretty interesting and surprising vegan foods!

so anyway, one i found this weekend is....banana babies!  they're from diana's bananas and the dark chocolate ones are vegan.  they're just frozen bananas dipped in chocolate, but..mmmm.  the chocolate is a tiny bit waxy, but all in all, i thought it was a pretty good find.

also, many of marie calendar's fruit pies are vegan as well, which is awesome for a yummy, fatty dessert when i don't feel like making one, haha...

anyone else been finding something cool and yummy?

Nature Valley Granola bars, at least some of the variety is Vegan, as is Annies bunny bites, individual packages of fruit chews. They use pectin, which is fruit derrived.  We also love Dr Oetker organic pudding mix, which is also Gluten free as well as Vegan, we have the choc and vanilla.

I just ate it! It was better than i thought it would be. And theres tofu in the potstickers!

I added a couple of these reviews to the "meatless" thread, and as far as I can tell, the Asian potstickers entree is the only vegan one (out of all of their products).

Here's a link to that thread of reviews, if anyone is interested in looking/adding some (I have added all the Kashi meals): http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=24055.0

On the Amys site, it says they have cakes now!! Orange and chocolate and VEGAN!
Has anyone seen or tried these?

I've seen the cakes at Woodman's last time I was there, haven't tried them, they aren't GF, but sounds good.

I wish Amy's would make their apple pie vegan....doesn't make sense to me that they can come up with 2 vegan cakes and not one vegan pie!  Seems like a pie would have been simple for them to do? :'(

underSARAH, I had those Healthy Choice Asian Potstickers today for lunch and they were so good....a little sweet, but thats ok.....thanks for telling me about them....I even emailed Healthy Choice to thank them and asked them to make more vegan items....

As for apple pie, Marie Callender's apple pie is vegan and its amazing.

i heard that regular original flavor skittles are vegan now too - go get em undersarah & cakes!  (make sure to read the label in case theres still some of the older packages floating around..)

eta: i just got back from the store and saw it with my own eyes!  the first bag i saw was a larger/older package and still had gelatin, but the snack size in the checkout line was vegan and said "gelatin-free & gluten-free" right under the ingredient list.  so make sure to read the label!

at aldi they have vegan jell-o style cups in assorted flavors, some have fruit in them & they have carageenan instead of gelatin.  theyre cheap too, between 1.00 and 1.60 each or so.

theres also a line of asian foods, noodle bowls, noodle mixes, etc. and about half of them are vegan.  they're even labeled 'vegan' at the end of the ingredient list.

they're buttery spread is vegan too, full of hydrogenation, but vegan.  plus, it is insanely cheap at 1.80 for 3 lbs!

i found some new items at tj's today.  they have their own line of vegan jell-o cups, almond windmill cookies, maple cookies, and a chick'n thing that is like a chicken breast stuffed with a mexican style filling.. black beans, veggies & spices.

i decided to buy a box of those chocolate filled square cereal.. they taste just like those chocolate creme wafers.. those rectangular things with the honeycomb pattern.  the cereal comes in strawberry flavor too so im assuming they taste like their creme wafer counterparts, too.  not bad, i think they'd be good baked into some cereal/cookie/brownie bar maybe..

I HAVE THOSE!!! The TJ's chocolatey cereal things. They taste a teensy bit like Nutella if you concentrate really hard while you're eating them. I wish I had gotten strawberry too :( Now I have to wait a month and a half.

Are those chikn strips and beef strips still there? I asked my mommy if she could hook me up and she said they were gone.

hmm im pretty sure they were still there.. but i was distracted reading the stuffed chickn things.  but you reminded me!

at whole foods i saw some new lightlife products called Tempeh-tations, and they were marinated tempeh meals.

there were also had some new bbq chickn and chipotle chickn meals, along with beef skewer things but i can't remember what the brand was.

"Nakd. wildly different"

I found these in my UK supermarche at the w/end; They are lara bar-esque in that they are predominantly made with dates.  The blurb states:  "nothing artificial, no added sugar, syrups, wheat, dairy or GMO, cold-pressed never baked, 1 of your 5 a day and NATURALLY VEGAN".  They are made in Wales, eatnakd.com

They come in a pack of 5 for £2 (which isn't much when you consider Lara Bars cost £1.30 ish over here for one!) and I bought the "berry" version and the "cocoa loco" (which was lush btw).  Not quite fully raw for you rawists out there but very close with raw dates, raisins, peanuts, almonds, walnuts; non-raw ingredients being oats, apple juice and cocoa.

edited to add:  forgot this bit - they are 90% fat free and 100 cals a bar!
