moisturizers?

I was trying to check out product reviews, but when I click on the VegShopping tab, I get a fatal error. Ick. Anyway, I told Y, but I still need some input. I need to buy a new moisturizer for my face. Just wondering if anyone has a favorite, or one they absolutely hate. Let me know vegwebbers! Thanks!!

I really like these products. :)

I have dry skin, even in the Florida humidity if I don't moisturize.

My favorite cruety free product is Jason Vit. E mositurizer.  A little goes a long way.  It's expensive but lasts.

im not exactly answering your question, but in one of my cook books by christina pirello, she suggests taking a hot washcloth (wet) and rubbing it on your face, hands, basically your whole body every morning. she swore that if you did this, you would not need moisturizer and would have a healthy glow. I have been doing it, and by gosh she is right! i guess it exfoliates your skin and brings new layers to the surface more quickly?
if this sounds interesting to you i could send you what she wrote in the book that intrigued me. i used to use creams on my face till i started doing this. it really wakes me up, too!

On a similar topic, what bad ingredients should I be watching out for in beauty products?  Lanolin is an obvious one, but what about all those chemical names.. which ones are animal derived?

personally I just try to avoid anything with long lists of chemicals.

i really like MyChelle products - the line has a few different moisturizers depending on your skin type - but there are some really good reviews for the Supreme Polypeptide Cream Unscented - or the Oil Free Grapefruit Cream

Here is Christina Pirello in her cook book, Everything you wanted to know about whole foods:
(slightly abridged)

This works so well you will find you can't live without it, and its easy.  Add this practice to your bath or shower. It will change your life, your perspective, your attitude, how well yousleep, how beautiful yoru skin and hair look each day, how balanced your energy feels.

Try it for 30 days. trust me.
fold a cotton washcloth into quarters. using hot water, wet the cloth and begin to srub your body without soap, rubbing gently with just the weight of your hand until your skin turns pink all over. start with your hands, rubbing palm and backside, between your fingers and work your way up your arms toward your chest. rub chest and back (she says avoid genitals, but i say if you wanna, go for it)

work your way down your belly, scrub groin, butt, down legs, tops of feet, between toes, soles, etc...

at first youll notice your skin turns a mottled pink,. as the body breaks down accumulated hardened fats, your skin will turn a uniform rosy pink in minutes.
after a month you will notice a new softness to your skin, and youll be addicted. in about 2 months youll find you no longer need moisturizer. you wont have flaky skin or crusty heels, dry elbows and itch patches, oily areas, or breakouts. youll have more energy, sleep more soundsly and feel more flexible in attitude and spirit. do it every day.

OK, now its me again. I dont really buy all the spiritual stuff, but i did this for a couple weeks when iwas preg and my thighs were shiny smooth!  my dh even noticed!
now i dont have time and i just do my face and arms, but i still feel great. havent used moisturizer since.

but when i did it was natures gate face cream with some kind of wine in it.

sorry, no time to edit for spelling today!

Thanks for typing that out! I don't think that you've had/have breakouts?!? But, if you do/did..did it help with that? P never uses any soap/body wash..and just scrubs with water. He's been wanting me to do this..but I don't take showers THAT often..I haven't yet been able to quit the body wash...but I do just usually rinse my face with water. I'll try the hot rag thing, though!!!

i dont really get break outs, but definitely uneven tones and dry, patchy areas. i still use soap in the shower and i shampoo everyother day. i do this after my shower. i love it!

We are playing post tag!

So, do you take a shower every day but not wash your hair while you're in there...every other day? Do you just try to not get it wet? Or do you get it wet and not wash? Sometimes I kinda feel like taking a shower, but don't want to wash my hair (like right now, so I can do the rag thing..). I feel like if I'm in there...I might as well wash my hair...but I know it doesn't need it. I usually take a shower like every 2-3 days. It's not like it'd be a big deal if I just got my hair wet w/o washing..I just let it dry anyway...

i get it wet but i dont wash it. i also found that rinsing it in a baking soda/water mix makes it feel clean-really clean!  ive heard that acv is a good rinse ( apple cider vinegar- i had a feeling youd ask!) ???
i also take a shower every day. i just cant get going with out it!

my hair gets SOOOO messy at night that i absolutely have to get it wet if not wash it. it sticks straight up no matter what-short or long-i have major bed head!
it looks better on the unwashed days. i still blow it dry like usual too.

Tag, you're it!

i use aveeno posively radiant moisturizer on my face.  it's the only one i've found that does not cause me to break out, so i can use it everyday.  verrry sensitive skin.

i dunno if it's vegan though, i bought my current bottle before going vegan (i make it last).  anyone know?
