Thanks to everyone who mentioned how much they liked Larabars in an older granola bar thread.
I ordered every flavor online (the maya/jocalate ones too) and got them all today and we did a taste test tonight! I only tried 3 but MMM!!! We are so impressed!!!!
Cherry Pie was my FAV! (of the 3 we tried) I can't wait to get through ALL the bars so that I know which to order entire boxes of!!
RAW food rules!!!  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D

This soooo sounds like something I would do.  :D In fact, I am making tofu-doughnuts today (using Bryanna Clark Grogan's fat free cookie recipe; which I think tastes more like doughnuts than coolies) and may have to create a tasting chart with my add ins / toppings.

Thanks for the idea. ;)

I love these!  I tried them on a whim and was thrilled that I liked them at all.  Dates kinda freak me out, so I was pretty cautious when I took that first bite.  Pretty silly when you taste them and realize that they taste like candy.  Healthy candy, yay!

Good to hear that other people enjoy them as much as I do.

Love,
Syd

LOL!! we had an "argument"  ;) today about where halfway was!
Lemon Bar = MMM
Cocoa Mole = mmm
Haven't had one that we didn't like yet!

Oh and I also am not a fan of dates but these are so different....

the only one i don't think I'll like is the chocolate orange because i don't like fruit+chocolate i like to keep my chocolate pure  :D

Oh and my son didn't like the cherry pie... i think he thought it was going to be chocolate (the dark color from the dates) and sour cherries when you're expecting chocolate is not good LOL

i think i'm going to have to try these, i see them at the store all the time..

the only thing that keeps me from it is that even though it's supposed to be healthy for you, they seem to have an awful lot of fat! for something thats approximately 200 calories with 12g of fat and 16g of sugar, i'd almost rather just eat an actual candybar  ???

it's less than 200.... more like 150-180 maybe... the last bar i had... i THINK... was 130...? (not sure though)

the fat comes from all the nuts...(the package tells you which types of omegas and how many grams of omegas you're getting from each bar which is always different)  it seems the same to me as eating a handful or two of nuts...

the sugar is all sugar found in the fruit (the dates)
There are NO other ingredients!

But is IS a candy bar.... just a healthy one, it's not a meal replacement bar... i think it is better than a candy bar! and you feel yummy afterward... not icky sugar crash.

lots of fat doesn't mean something is unhealthy, just look at avacados!
you can't say... "wow so much fat in avacados, i think i'll just go eat a stick of maragarine" heehee ;)  ;D you should give one a try! i'm glad i did. (i sound like a commercial ;D)

Yeah, I agree Sariea, I think most are between 180-230 calories. I don't let that stop me, though. It's a good, wholesome treat. I usually keep one in my purse for those occasions when I'll need to have a snack and won't have access to anything healthy/vegan. My faves are cinnamon roll, cashew cookie, cherry pie, banana cookie, and apple pie. For some reason, I haven't liked any of the chocolate ones I've tried, and I've tried most of them I think  ???

yeah i already figured i wouldn't like the chocolate ones, but i'm going to pick up a lemon, apple pie, banana cookie, and cinnamon roll because i figure i'd like those if i were to like any of them

thats a good idea, though, to carry them just in case. i work in a bakery and usually bring a vegan muffin with me but when i get hungry again i'm just surrounded by real unhealthy stuff

So i got some of these this morning and just tried them. I was cutting them up so i could just snack on them through out the day (not all in one day of course). i got a Banana Cookie, Apple Pie, and Ginger Snap one. Unfortunately they didn't have the cinnamon roll or lemon, which was what i really wanted to try. I did find a different bar that was lemon, i think it was called Fiber Bar Lemon Burst or something, it's basically the same ingredients as a Larabar but with added fiber.

anyway, i liked the lemon, banana was yummy, and apple pie was good. but the ginger one i didn't like at all. i was hoping i wouldnt like any of them since they were about $2.50 each! lol

I took a look at Whole Foods last night and the Cherry Pie Larabar has 190 calories--not so bad when you compare it to many other sweets. Still, I'm looking for emotional satisfaction from my sweets and I'm not sure something granola bar-ish will do it for me. :P Plus, looks to me like they would be a little too easy to eat--and eat some more (price be-damned).  :-\

Hmm, so strange. I think I am the only one on earth who doesn't like Larabars. I actually hate them like the plague. I know it's the dates in them, but how can other people who don't like dates like Larabars and I hate them anyway? I just can't stand the texture and the flavor and the smell... Well, I guess I'm just weird that way.

After all this talk about larabars, I had to pick some up on the monthly grocery excursion today.  Hubby and I tried a cherry pie bar on the way home.  Mmmm....

Thanks for recommending!

We've got 5 other flavors to go.  :)

I stopped by the news stand today and picked up a copy of Real Simple magazine, curious about its cover teaser on the mag's "Road Test" of energy bars.

Larabar's Cherry Pie and Jocalat flavors came out on top. After testing about 100 bars, eight were picked. Cherry Pie was the winner in the Fruity category and Jocolat was the winner in the Chocolatey category.

After reading this post I had to pick up a few & can we say *YUMMY*!!!!

My local health food store didn't have chocolate ones or the Cinnamon Roll (which is the one I was really looking forward to trying), but I did get Cherry Pie, Cashew Cookie & Apple Pie. They are all tasty treats, but the Cherry Pie is definitely my fave so far.

I can already tell I'm going to find all kinds of yummy new goodies from reading this board!  ;)

I just tried the Apple Pie and Cashew Cookie ones. They're good - not great - but good. I guess I'll have to try the Cherry Pie ones that everyone's been raving about.
