Earth Balance Peanut butter

Has anyone tried this peanut butter?, I saw the ad in VegNews magazine, I love earth balance spread, so I thought I'd give this a try..comments welcome 8)

The ingredients are peanuts, flaxseed, agave syrup, palm fruit oil, and salt.

It has got the checklist:  fat, sugar, and salt.  I'm going to bet that it's kind of like crack.

That's disappointing that they'd add oil.

It rocks; goes fast.

Tastes pretty good and is preferable, I'd think, to other peanut butters with added sugar, oil, and salt because it contains flaxseed oil instead of hydrogenated palm oil... In other words, it gives you omega 3s in place of trans fat.

The palm oil would be replacing the partially hydrogenated oils.  Is this a "no stir" peanut butter?  I've seen palm oil in other "natural, no stir" peanut butters.

If you don't want added oils, I think you're pretty much stuck with the kind you have to stir up occasionally.

on the other hand, if you stir natural pb once and then refrigerate, it stays emulsified.

i guess this would be good for people who are used to pb with added junk (like peter pan, skippy, etc)

Sometimes that works for me, but sometimes the oil still separates in the fridge and I have to stir it again otherwise the last little bit is very dry.

If you turn it upside down it helps to keep the oil mixed.

This is what I do. Before I open it (still room temp), I turn the pb upside down. After a day or so I turn it right side up, stir, then refrigerate. No problems after that, even when I forget and leave it out on the counter overnight.

Good idea!  I hate stirring with the oil on top - I usually end up splashing oil over the side.  I'm going to try this next time.
