cliff bars

we do have a larabar thread.
but is anyone passionate towards cliff bars as much as larabars?
cliff bars are yummy.

Oh there are good. My problem is the cost, they cost about $1.99  here.

they are supper yummy...the cost kept me at bay too..especially cause there are so many flavors Id dint know if i was worth a try...but a while back wild oats had a 10/10 sale and I bought a bunch of them...one of every flavor basically....

I like to freeze them...it makes them last longer.... ;)

They cost that much (1.99) here too! Is there anywhere you can buy them in bulk online for cheaper?

has anyone tried the blueberry crisp one?
that's my favorite.

I've tried blueberry crisp. It was a little too dry for me. My favorite is the Mint Chocolate Chip. Mmm!

I haven't figured out why he dropped the second F to make them Clif bars, though. His dad's name is Clifford and the picture is him hanging off a cliff--both have two Fs.

They go on sale for a dollar here at Whole Foods. And I thought that was a lot. Sounds like I'm getting a steal of a deal!

i'll have to try those 2 next. have you ever had luna bars?

Those two clif bar flavors are AWESOME.

I actually seriously love Luna Bars too.  :)  I think a lot of the flavors are better... and the icing is super tasty.  Peppermint stick and peanut butter cookie are the ones I've been eating recently.

Sometimes whole foods has sales bringing them down to 3 for $3.  :)  It makes me feel not so bad if I have one when I'm not on the bike training.

I <3 lunar bars. seriously. they're so good. and not much in them that i feel bad about eating. like fake stuff or gross stuff. plus they're filling enough to eat at school for lunch and not feel completely deprived of good food until 330 when i get home :)

Ok.  THIS is my topic.  I've actually had multiple people jokingly ask me if i work for clif since i'm always talking them up.  I believe i've tried all the flavors but I don't remember ever seeing a raspberry one, Zealia.  I wish they'd keep their seasonal flavors year round, and i've even emailed them to encourage that but nothing so far.  At least it's getting to that time of year again and hopefully they'll bring back the 'spiced pumpkin pie' and 'caramel apple cobbler'.  I will cross my fingers.

Pricewise, Trader Joes and Target have them the cheapest.  A little less than a buck at each place.. however you can buy 6ct boxes of the pb & the choc chip pb at target for 5.50.. so you save a little there, on those flavors anyway.  Also, (and i hate giving out this secret) i've bought coupons on ebay.. 50 cents off 2 bars.  Does that make me weird?

Discoveries i've made about clif bars:

1.  When you eat a pb clif bar and an apple at the same time, it turns into caramel apple in your mouth.  It's good with green apples.. it's good with red apples.. it's pretty much amazing.  I don't know how it works but it's like eating a healthy caramel apple covered in peanuts!

2.  Once, my only clif bars were in my car on a cold day.  (i usually keep alot in there so i always have an assortment handy)  I really wanted to eat one but the first bite hurt my teeth, so i popped it into the microwave for about 7 seconds.  I checked it and then let it go for another 7 seconds.  It was FANTASTIC!!  I've since done it with every flavor i like and it is like eating a freshly baked oatmeal raisin bar/brownie/pb cookie/blueberry muffin/etc. bar!!  The chocolate chips get gooey and the frosting gets melty...mmm.  I think for a room temp bar 9 seconds in the microwave should be good.. just as long as its a little soft, but not hot = perfect.

3.  Future discovery i hope to make:  i want try cooking with the bars.. maybe heat them up and roll them out into a pie crust or something.. i will let you know how it turns out.  Maybe that should be one of the iron chef ingredients sometime  :)

whew!  ok.  i'm done.  i seriousely could live off of those things.

ps.  clif makes a kids bar called zbar, they are like half the size/price of clif and come in pb (with a choc drizzle on top), brownie, and chocolate chip.  I've only had the first 2, both good but pb is best, perfectly chewy & sweet.  the brownie one seems a little dry and could use some pb spread on top.  ok, now im done.

i was also as in love with clif bars as you, propinecone. but man, my appetite is insatiable and i would eat like two in a sitting... it was getting expensive and not so good for me. so i pretty much cut that out :(

I really like the clif and luna bars because they  have non-chocolate flavors.  I feel like if I'm going to eat chocolate, I want really good chocolate, not just frosting on a nutritional bar.

Anyway, my favorite flavors are chai tea, carrot cake, and oatmeal raisin cookie.  Oh, and the gingerbread one, at holiday time.

I thought the Z bars were not vegan though?  I haven't ever seen them in stores, but that's what I heard from a friend.  Anyone know for sure?

i absolutely LOVE Luna bars. my flavor is the peanut butter cookie one. I buy boxes of them at Walmart, they have them individually for $.94 or I can buy a box of 6 for $4.50

i've stopped buying them though because they are so many calories and don't make me feel full. i used to bring them to work until the sugar got to be too much (they dont have that much sugar but i am really sensitive when it comes to that stuff, it makes me get a sugar rush and then i crash and feel ill)

but i love love love them sooooo much!!!

I love Clif bars.  I always stock up on a bunch when they're on sale though.  My fav is the peanut butter cholocolate chip one.  There are a few I haven't tried and only a few that I don't really care for.  I didn't know they had seasonal flavors!  :o  I like the Builder Bars they have as an after workout meal...Double the protein for those lifting days.  ;)
