Weighed myself today . . .

I was ambivalent about weighing in since it has been either cold or snowy since Thanksgiving & my walking program has come to nearly a halt. I've done a few exercise videos, but not nearly enough to make up for the extra calories & booze I've had! However, I have held steady with my weight training & was very happy when not only did I not gain anything over the last 5 weeks, I lost an additional pound! Harr!!

I am psyched to start shedding the 30 pounds I still have to go. My annual physical is mid-February & I hope to drop at least 10 by then.

WOOHOOO!! Keep it goingl!! 1lb down is great!

As a constant weight watcher (I lost 35 lbs on weight watchers 3 years ago and have only gained back 5, and working on those 5 again)..I know what a long hard road it is!

Congratulations!
I was doing fine until a few days ago. We had a big party at our house...lots of food & I dove right in. I regret it now.

Majicka, Good work keeping it off 3 years! About 7 years ago I took off 30 pounds. The first time I weighed in after my triumphant success, I had gained back 7. I cannot believe I didn't do anything then! Here I am, all 30 pounds back again plus an additional 20.

JessesMum, one indulgence shouldn't be too hard to bounce back from. I find party food, dips & appetizers, to be the hardest to resist.

I weighed in on Saturday and found I had maintained...no loss, no gain! I had lost about 25 lbs but when I joiined a gym I gained back about 12...still don't know how that works!  ???Since then I've been fighting with the same 2-3 lbs up and down. Hoping to get back to regular walking after the 15th of this month.
I am so glad and surprised I didn't gain! I certainly didn't eat healthy, and my exercise was way down.

LEZLY! I'll say it again...I can't imagine there being anything untoward about your weight!  I saw you when you were very pregnant and you were thinner than I was.  In fact, every time I have seen you, I am embarrassed to stand next to you, lest I look like the short, dumpy, dare I say PHAT woman that I am, but I look even worse than usual.

Since you are working out and everything...what works for a terrible post 6 kids flappy abdomen?

Dragonfly, you have me confused with someone else. I've never been pregnant! We did meet once at a Wild Oats & had some field roast from their deli, but it was just the two of us.

I agree with what Luda Blue just said...."Short term goals are best!  The reward is sweeeeet."
Besides exercising to burn calories and to feel more energetic, keep in mind when losing weight that no more then 1 to 2 lbs. per week should be your goal. Usually anything lost faster than that is gained back much more easily. 1 lb. per week is a 52 lb. loss for the year, 2 lbs. per week is a 104 lb. loss for the year! Just stay active. Park your car in the furthest parking spot from the store. Walk every chance you get. Climb stairs instead of using an elevator. When I lived in NYC, I walked around 20X as much as I do now (that's actually a big benefit of city living). Now that I live out  in the country, I run and hike a lot, but  I pretty much need to use my car to go everywhere.
Good Luck, and Happy New Year!

Congratulations to all of you that have lost (or maintained) weight!  This issue is something I've struggled with for most of my life.  Though I don't really considered myself FATI am definitely carrying around an extra 15lbs.  :-\  With my new awareness of food and starting a 10K training program, I hope to drop them shortly.  And after I complete a 10K, I am going to start training for a half marathon...and then finally a marathon.  Its something I've always wanted to do!  I agree with rewarding yourself for mini goals throughout the process.  Just make sure it isn't an edible reward!  ;)  Good luck to all of you!!

hey people.
I hope all your guys goals come true!!! about four years ago i weighed about 160-165lbs and i am 5'2'', and at the time i was in junior high, and we all know how terrible kids can be to each other, well to make a long story short,  i found about veganism and it took about  two years to really loose the 40 pounds i wanted, and then i kept loosing more, about 15. being heavy most of my life, it felt weird being this size. close allways needing to be pulled up..lol I am also a big runner and even thoe i wasent under weight, i was at a weight i really didnt feel normal at. so i guess i am really trying to say is that, when you find your weight that you feel TERRIFIC in, dont change it just so you can fit in. this is what i am finding out myself now. I mean unless you have some serious medical problems. Right now i weight about 120lbs, and i finaly feel like i can go for hours and hours. so i guess my goal for myself would be, to stay happy and healthy just for me. Sounds cheesy maybe, but it's the truth.
So i hope all your guys New years Resolutions and goals comes true!
