Uhoh... HairCut Gone Wrong (NVR)

I got bored and cut off all my hair.
I've chopped it off myself a few times before and those were okay-ish but this time it didn't go well.
It's just hair, so I'm not dying but I do look like a freak now, and not in the "cool punky freak" way I wanted to look... more of the "someone attacked Meg Ryan with scissors" way.  ::)
I can't even attempt to fix it because I don't have a hand mirror and can't see the back.  ::)
Yeaaaah... *sigh*
Damn.

Post a pic and maybe we can give suggestions!  I had a do it yourself highlight disaster this week and I'm just livin with it :(

Yeah, I did that once in college....strange, I swear I dreamed about cutting my own hair last night.  You must have caught my vibes or something.

Do you have a friend that can help you fix it?  Otherwise you can either go to a salon or just keep it as is with attitude.   :D

On second thought, why don't you just shave your head? Not totally bald, but really short with clippers. I have always wanted to do this but never had the guts. I could live vicariously through you if you did it! :D  I think its a great look for women!

PS leave one piece long somewhere for a tribute to your old hair.

One word: Mohawk.

Instead of shaving...why not worsen the cut on purpose...make it really random.  Then dye your hair pink or something!

Haha.  I had a pretty major "did it myself" color disaster in high school.  So I decided to balance it with an equally drastic an funky cut.

JH, I agree, you should post a pic.  Someone on here will probably have some good ideas.

My face is too fat these days to get away with such a close cut Britney cut I think guys. Besides my MIL is coming to visit and I have a feeling that she'd die. literally drop dead.

HA we ARE vibing the same! I DID that in college! Cut it about 1 inch long all over and then dyed it blonde and then red manic panic which came out pink.
But nah I'm not into dying my hair anymore... too chemically... but I DID think about it.

I'm doing pics cuz I'd love some advice. I just have to charge the camera battery... it's charging now.
That way you guys can see the monstrous pimple on my chin too... ;)

I hear Cool Aid works great as a hair dye....

i did that in middle school it was fun... but i have dark hair and it didn't work too well... just lightly tinted it for a day or two... but my hair tasted sweet!

yeah, been there. ;D  I second the head shaving suggestion, unless you think someone can salvage it.  I shaved mine in January and it was great for a change.  I can't say it was the most flattering cut I've ever had but it wasn't the worst either.  ;)  Oddly liberating too.  I kept it up for a few months.  I have a picture of the results in my gallery.
You're right, it's only hair.  I hope you're happy with whatever you do.

I'm sitting here waiting for the battery to charge but I realized I have a webcam *doof*...
It doesn't look as bad on the pic... it's the choppy bottom part that bad...
I was going for this kind of thing: http://www.ukhairdressers.com/style/index2.asp?R1=3095&month1=&pg=1&styl1=Schwarzkopf
::)
I've taken a shower since and it's still a tad wet.

I suppose I can style it into submission but I hate styling.
So what do I do? Cut more? Leave it? Shave? LOL I don't think I'm doing that...

I can't really tell...maybe a little choppy in the back.  I say leave it.  It's fine.

It looks good!  Leave it be and should the MIL ask, simply say "Oh my stylist did it, claimed it was the latest style!"  hahah!

Oh ;D  I only meant MIL would die if i shaved it.
It doesn't look good! I'm not being self deprecating either! You just can't see it. It's weirrrrrrd.
I'm thinking I'll leave it for a day or two and see how it settles and pick at it a little more after that.

I think it looks really cute!

I like the look you were going for....that would be a nice doo on you  :)  I'm no stylist but it looks like it can be saved. If it was me, I'd bring the picture in the link to a stylist & have them do their thing.

I think you could shorten the back a little more, that is the difference between the two styles...yours is still longer in the back and not getting the lift.  Hold your hair at a 45* angle for longer layers, or 180* (straight up from your skull) for spiky layers.  Looks like the cut you're looking at is probably a 45, but styled upward with a round brush and blow dryer.  Can you go to a stylist and get it fixed?  Probably easier to do this now, than if you cut more off and don't like it.

(Disclaimer:  I dropped out of cosmetology school 8 years ago)

Thanks mdvegan!! That is exactly what i was thinking but didn't know what it was i was thinking! "layers" scares me but i'm gonna try the 180* in a few days.
I don't really have time to go to a stylist or I would have already and not just hacked myself.
it's so much work to set up an appt and get a sitter and i don't have any idea who i'd go to anyway. plus with my poor german i'd probably end up with a dyed skunk hairdo which seems to be very popular here. blonde on top... dark underneath  ???
okay so that's worst case scenario but still

That looks like a blunt bob, it's not so bad!! If you seriously feel like you cannot 'go on' get the back stacked a little to give it more shape. In the meantime you can get some type of serum or pomade--I think it's called to 'make the ends piecey' like the photo of what you wanted. It seems like there's not enough'texture' or layers as others have said.

I think it's a very cute (sappy word, I know, but attractive sounded just too...something) look for you. The front looks super and if you keep moving (shouldn't be too hard with a 2-year-old), no one will notice the unevenness in the back. Perhaps your MIL can even it up a bit for you in the back if you're still uncomfortable when she gets there. You're way braver than I have ever been. Used to have my hair halfway down my back and even then wouldn't even trim it across the bottom.
