I have a tummy ache

Can you guys help me out? I haven't eaten anything unusual (for me). It started yesterday morning with some uh.... loose stools. that wasn't a big deal, just inconvient. During the day yesterday I got just an ache feeling in my stomach & was bloated & gassy. I still have the ache now, just no gas. It seems to hurt after I eat. I'm drinking some tea now. Anything else I should try? I can go to Whole foods at lunchtime, so it's not a big deal to go buy something. oh and I haven't pooped yet today, that's unusual.

Maybe some miso soup?  And saltines.

Hope you get to feeling better soon.

The lack of BM today may mean you really got rid of the contents of your bowels yesterday and have nothing further to contribute (sorry) esp. if you haven't eaten much since then.

Mint tea or coriander tea is a good digestive. Mint tea you make like regular China tea, coriander you boil the seeds for 3 min and let stand for about 5.

I could try miso soup for lunch, thanks.

Do I have to use whole coriander seeds, or is ground coriander ok? I looked for the whole seeds before & couldn't find them.

Yabbit stole my answer. I was also going to say mint tea. It works great for me when I have a tummy ache.

Baypuppy you are correct- ginger tea is great for digestive upsets. Fennel tea is also great. You're upset stomach sounds exactly like what happens to me when I eat refined sugar or even too much natural sugars (I try not to eat more than 2-3 pieces of fruit per day). I think I just don't react well to sugar.
Or else, maybe you're coming down with something? ???

Darn it, it is spreading across the water! Now I've got a low fever, general blahs, and "loose stools" (I know that's the medical term but it makes me think the toilet is chasing someone all over the apartment! Help! The stool got loose!)  ;D

Does the VegWeb site have a virus--and is it catching??

(Sorry--like I said, I've got a fever.)

Sorry to hear Yabbit!!!

I was really lucky. Went to WF and one of their soups today was....VEGAN miso with tofu and soba noodles!!!!!  :D I got a large cup.

I also picked up an orange, an advo/cuc sushi roll, and a "Stomach Ease"  tea with coriander, mint, and ginger among other things in it. Tasts a lot like licorice to me. So far I handled the miso ok & am working on the tea. I'll try the sushi in a bit.

I say either keep drinking some water or some unsweetened juice. Either you will get better or it will make you throw up what's bugging you.

It depends really I think sometimes the body just needs that and sometimes not.

Hope you're feeling better! If you're tasting licorice it could be that there is fennel in there, it tastes pretty similar. Have you ever tried oil of oregano for warding off the yuckies? I SWEAR by it!

I like the idea of the teas, but none of them have honestly worked for me.

I usually just drink water, eat plain ole bread and soy yogurt. It's about the only thing I'm willing to eat when I've got an upset stomach anyway, it doesn't cause any further harm, and I think the yogurt helps.
