Holy PMS, Batman! (help!)

I am having the worst, most painful PMS ever! Well, since high school, anyway. I have changed nothing but my diet- has anyone else found their period became 100x more painful after becoming veg*n? Is there something I'm missing that I should be getting?

The most unusual thing is my period has always been pretty predictable, and now suddenly I have on-and-off bleeding and major cramps. I haven't been on birth control for over a year, but this is how it used to be before I started taking the Pill when I was 15. This is so bizarre because before last week, I was eating HORRIBLE foods all the time. We ate out several times a week. Now I'm eating pretty healthy foods (lots of salads, soups, beans, rice, etc). It's very sudden (last month wasn't bad at all), so I don't THINK it could be the whole not being on birth control anymore, but I don't know.

Somebody please help me before next month comes around!

:'(

Are you under any stress? Stress always makes my periods bad! Maybe it was just a fluke month--I hope you feel better now!

I don't think I'm under any more stress than normal. Nothing is really getting to me or anything. What I wouldn't give to stay home from work today, though... at least I work a short shift and not an all-day one.

Cute image, too. Made me grin.

all i can say is... i take extra vitamins because my PMS gets so painful that i'm bedridden for atleast the first day and have been known to get physically sick because it hurts so bad

i take a Calcium Magnesium and Zinc in the morning, a Calcium and a Magnesium in the afternoon, and a Super B Complex whenever i feel like it (usually in the morning), plus a Vitamin C.

But its mainly the calcium magnesium and B vitamins that are supposed to help with that. i can't remember how but i know it was (only) slightly less painful when i was on top of taking the vitamins. but i have stopped taking the placebos in my birth control so i don't get my period anymore because it was so painful

it took atleast a month for the vitamins to help with the pain, but it might be something to look into since you have changed your diet you might not be getting enough of those *shrug*

consult a physician  ;)  just my $0.02

my god. someone is feeling my pain. mine was almost a whole month late and i had  to stay in bed all yesturday, only to be getting up to eat. terrible i know. and about a week and a half before i got my period, i was a eating fiend, and i am normally a counting calorie health freak. If someone were to be in my way of any sort of food in the past weak i would warn them with their life. haha truely something i havnt experienced since high school, or the late night drunk munchies.

now im a little bit embaressed, but im back on track today...so far that is.

In my case, I start to take primerose oil (Omega 6) one week before period start.  It right about the PMS time.  It kind of help me to go through it with minimum symptom.

I was under the incredibly mistaken impression that I wouldn't need to take supplements or vitamins at first, just because I thought that would come later and I didn't need it yet, but I got over that when small fistfuls of hair started falling out and having the worst cramps I can remember having.  Whatever you're taking now, I'd recommend more zinc and calcium

I don't think you should be having on and off bleeding. Go to the doctor and tell them that.

That seemed to be my pre-period, odd as that is. It's like my body couldn't decide whether to actually start or not (I almost always start on a Tuesday, the semi-bleeding started on Saturday, I think... and today I actually got sick just before I started bleeding for real). When it finally decided to just go for it and bleed, I felt better.... but that could also be because I got caught up to the pain with pills.

So it's not just me, and it might be something I am missing from my diet? I've heard that calcium helps with PMS symptoms and cramps, but that you have to take it all the time to see an effect, so I'll go get some calcium supplements. I'm almost embarrassed to say I take Flintstones vitamins, but they're the only ones I remember EVERY DAY.... 'cause they're yummy.  :)

Now I'm exhausted. I felt a little better when I went to work and busied myself with projects, but I felt worn out and nauseous all day. I don't like this... periods suck. Especially when you change what you're eating. If it doesn't get any better next month, I'll make a doctor's appointment.

Just make sure with the doctor that it's nothing.

In the mean time, use it as a very fair excuse to get whatever you want from J.  ;)  (You can tell him I said that!)

He already gives me whatever I want. He made me spaghetti at 11:30 last night.

I wanted to do yoga yesterday, but I was physically sick, so I couldn't.
