Dietary fat and dry skin

So lately I have had seriously dry skin.  I know this cold, dry winter weather here in Michigan is not helping, but I never remember having skin this dry.  I try and drink enough water, but I am beginning to wonder if I am not eating enough fat.  I never limit my fat intake, or buy "low-fat" anything.  However, a vegan diet is naturally low in fat.  The past couple of days I have been eating a lot of nuts (walnuts and almonds), flax seeds, and olive oil to see if this will help...  I am not trying to gain weight or anything, just keep my skin from looking like a lizard!  :o  Does anyone else think this is a possible cause?  Or have any other recommendations?  ???
