What Gadget Are You Drooling Over?

You know, we all dream of gadgets, particularly (on VW) stuff for the kitchen. I have fallen in love with this:
http://www.amazon.com/Japanese-Gohan-Traditional-Cooker-H-4066/dp/B001KOT89E/ref=pd_ys_qtk_wl_t?ie=UTF8&coliid=I1OF3CQ3NCGB6N&colid=YS96NNYSNDMM&pf_rd_p=1286263542&pf_rd_s=center-4&pf_rd_t=1501&pf_rd_i=

BUT it's 48 bucks. AND I don't know how much postage Amazon would soak me for to send an 8 lb object to Spain. Or even if they would send it here. And I don't have enough website smarts to figure it out.

I would use it, yes. Every day, about. But can it be used on the stovetop? Because traditional Japanese charcoal ranges are in short supply here.
Why do I want it so badly? I can't tell you, really. But every time I look at it online it makes me feel happy and peaceful. (And yes, I realise just how weird that sounds.)

So what are you dreaming of?

Right now I'm big on baking, so all my gadgets are cake-related.

I want:

Magic Line Cake Pans
Agbay cake leveler
A huge stand mixer

Turns out Amazon won't ship my gadget to Spain anyway.l I found it cheaper on japanbargain.com, but I won't be ordering it. It's only $39 dollars for the same item, BUT the postage would be another $43. More than the price of the pot!
So I printed out an image of it I found on line for drooling purposes. I'll just keep dreaming.

They aren't new products but I still drool over them -- my old iPad (from September 2010) and MacBook Pro (from January 2009). I sold these things to my mom to make money for my move to Oregon. Well, I'm visiting Ohio soon so I'll have access to these things. Also, my mom said she will let me have the iPad to take Oregon and maybe the laptop too. :)

I was thinking about this more since posting.  Yes, I drooled over the tea pot.  I drink a lot of tea.  But I get off the web page and I realize I really do not want it.  There is not much I want in any area.  I am concidering the plyers to put grommets it clothing but that is so I can add drawstrings to some things I am making.  And those things are things I am planning on giving away.  Life is good.  I can enjoy drooling for a few minutes and then go on without the desire.

I know. I fell in love with my gadget and drooled and dreamed...but then I wonder how successful I would be using it. And no, I don't really have that kind of money to just splash around. If I got the one they would ship, it would cost me like 60 Euros plus...which is half my weekly budget. So yeah. Dreaming on.

OH MAN OH MAN OH MAN ALIVE!!

So I went to my Asian grocery today, to lay in some seaweed and coconut milk and like that. Jose suggested I show the manager the picture of my rice cooker thing and ask him about it.
And they had one.
Cast iron.
OK, so the pot didn't have the cute little steam-catcher thingy, and the wooden lid wasn't as sexy as in my picture.
But it's cast iron.
And it only cost me 12 Euros, which is what? 15 bucks? Even if it's 20, that's no money in comparison.
I talked to the guy about how online there were these big warnings: DO NOT EXPOSE TO SALT! and he was like WTF? It's iron!
He says I can use it to make soup too, or even fry stuff.
I'm gonna season it, anyway.

He and the Spanish girl and the shop hugely enjoyed my excitement, in a nice, sharing-the-experience kind of way. Can't help it, I'm a cooking otaku, guys.

TEAPOT! I desperately need a new teapot. Broke my glass kettle awhile back and have been making tea in a pan and heating water on the stove or in a cheap plastic plug in tea kettle. Trying to get the water the right temp is a pain in the ass... really want a good quality teapot from Adagio.

OH, and I REALLY need a new dehydrator.

I used to have a huge Excalibur dehydrator when I lived down south, but it was lost in the mail on the way up here to Oregon. I am trying to make banana jerky in a cheapo $20 Kroger dehydrator tonight and this isn't working out so well. Anyone here tried the STX or TSM dehydrators? They look as good as the Excalibur's, but far cheaper(?).

congrat Yabbit! what a cool surprise!

I think my Vitamix is probably the most valuable possession I have inside my apartment.

*shh* I managed to afford mine by requesting a little extra Financial Aid a couple semesters back.

Your post got me curious so when we went downtown today I stopped in at the Asian market and they had cast iron teapots. Very nice but not cheap--27 Euros. Granted,  I wouldn't be breaking a castiron lid or spout!! And heavy!! Wow. The one I looked at weighs at least 4 lbs. But it's on my list for future drools.
