Thermos

I bought one of those jars that is supposed to keep food warm/hot and i tried it with my soup the other day at the beach and i was so angry at it  >:( my soup was cold! What did i do wrong? I don't even know how to use it and it didn't come with directions. I was hoping to use it this year at school...

Does anyo ne know how to use a thermos??

Assuming your soup was nice and hot going in, a good thermos should keep it warm for several hours when tightly sealed and properly stored.  Perhaps this will help.

If you fill a thermos with boiling water, let it sit for a few minutes, dump that out and then put the soup in you will be much happier I think.

i concur with the other jennifer. if your flask is hot before you put stuff in it, it doesn't pull all the heat out of your soup to warm itself up when you put the soup in.

the boiling water trick really works. if it doesn't work for you, your flask is rubbish, and i'd suggest you take it back for a refund (cos if it doesn't keep stuff hot, its not fit for the intended purpose), or try maybe knitting it a little jumper and hat and scarf and some socks.
