i found this amusing

Those kind of signs/advertisements always frighten me a little. Okay, maybe not "frighten", but they unnerve and unsettle me.  I'm glad I'm not alone!

Ha, but I can't stop myself from looking, like a car wreck or something..I'm going back to look again right now.  :o

edit: some of the comments on the first picture are...interesting.

And there's a terrible translation error on this blog as well. "Cochon prodigue" does not mean "the thrifty pig", but "the prodigal pig" in the sense of wasteful. If you are "prodigal" when entertaining your friends in French you splash out and spend way more than you need to. In Spain we say "we throw the house out the window."

When I first read this topics heading, I thought of the "food" that's been in the office refrigerator uncovered for the past week.  Some kind of cobbler.  This morning when I went to put my lunch box in here, I discovered that an uncovered aluminum serving tray of something that looks lke Spanish rice and another cobbler thing, also uncovered, is in there now.  Anyone that eats any that is almost guaranteed a case of food poisoning, I think.  There are a lot of other moldy stuff in there, too.  I wish they'd quit using the refrigerator as a trash can.  Once I discovered someone had filled two drinking cups (like you get ice tea in at potlucks) full of potato salad and left them uncovered.  I threw those away after about a week.  Damn it, I'm not these folks' momma and I'm not their maid, either.  Even if I was still an omnivore this would bug the hell out of me.  I wish they'd have a little more consideration for those few of us who actually use the refirigerator for food that we're going to eat!  >:( >:( >:(

Always thought it weird to see t.v. adds using "talking" chickens to sell chicken products, etc. and wondered why no else thought that was disturbing.  Interesting site for sure.

TNT, why not print out a sign to the effect of, "Any food left in this fridge for more than X days will be removed and disposed of." Yes you're not their mom but at least you will keep your food more spore-free and if you trash something--well they've been warned.

I keep my stuff in a sealed lunchbox and each thing in sealed containers within that.  So I'm not worried about getting sick myself.  As I was heating up my Amy's frozen lunch, Jose who works the main desk came in and said that he's got the job of dumping everything.  It was left over from some event held last night.  So that problem will soon be solved.  He also got himself a big scoop of the rice and some beans that I didn't notice.  I hope he doesn't get sick.  In my opinion, the refrigerator isn't kept cold enough.  There's stuff rotting in there and the rice and beans weren't covered.  All those factors put together, which I pointed out to him, could cause a case of food poisoning, which I also pointed out to him.  It's just gross, that's all.  I shouldn't care and I'm going to try not to.  Thanks for letting me vent, though.

WOw.  really disturbing/gross depictions of animals especially the one with the pig butchering itself.

I've always found this sort of thing really alarming, and I really like that someone thought to document it. I remember, for example, a poster in the window of a place in Athens, OH that advertised its special wings night with a picture of a chicken with bandaids over the stumps where its wings had been and a bewildered look on its face. The freaking callousness is unbelievable.

Baypuppy: Who are you reading? Carol Adams? Cary Wolfe? Not to pry, just curious.  ::)
