That's right vegans, we're not done yet.
EG rules:
1. You may vote once per day
2. You voted by adding a point to a spice you like, and subtracting a point from one you don't.
3. When a spice has 0 points, it is eliminated and cannot be added to again.
4. The game will end with a poll of top spices.
5. Tomato is not a spice. LET IT GO

How is onion seed, cumin seed and mustard seed not a spice? In their powder form, they are considered a spice? The powder is just ground up seed!
And if you want to start adding all spice blends, be prepared for a mile long list of blends from all over the world. This game is fucking stupid.

We are not adding spice blends, that's what we are saying dumbass!
I agree about a lot of the seed things. I guess they are technically herb seeds, but they are spices, and should be included. I don't really care about most of them, but obvs cumin.
ok, I'll learn when we start
lubes! you were in my dream a few nights ago! Miss you!

hope it was a good one!!
I think celery seed, dill seed, etc. should stay on the list. Different parts of the plant are used in different ways. For example, we had fennel in the veg EG and fennel leaves in the herb EG, and now fennel seed in the spice EG.
Is white pepper on the list?
Ok you guys,
"Herbs" were taken to be leafy parts used in seasoning, and we included saffron there.
Anything not a leaf and used for seasoning can be a spice, even if it's from the same plant (e.g. coriander seed and cilantro).
I took chili powder to mean powdered chiles. Cayenne pepper is only separate because it's often sold as that and not "chili powder." So "chili powder" would mean any other powdered chili thing other than cayenne.

So does that mean we'll have white pepper, pink peppercorns, black pepper, and Sichuan pepper separately? I'm thinking that way madness lies. We don't have bitter almond and nonpareil listed on the nut game, just almonds. I'd lean towards a merger between cayenne and its more generic counterpart, possibly including chipotle powder while we're at it. If that's not taking the assimilation too far.
I just wanna vote already!

Because it was spelled "chili" and there was a separate listing for cayenne (which is commonly referred to as "chile" powder), I took it to mean the blend. These are just generally accepted usages, there is no hard and fast rule regarding chili versus chile, though amongst Pepper Heads this has generated much debate. As long as we're clear on the delineation between the blend and the straight pepper powder I'm fine with whatever you guys decide to do.
yo storm, i went and spelled it 'chile' to make things clearer.
re: peppers. i would have put black and white pepper as the same thing, but for some reason some people HATE white pepper but love black (these people are crazy), and i guess without the skin there is some difference in taste. pink and sichuan pepper are different genus/species of plants, so those would be separate if added.... but uh....
