Reasons to smile

I guess not everyone needs to find a reason, but... What made you smile and/or laugh today?

My first LOL of the day was caused by this LOLdog.

I went to the uniform laundry room at work yesterday, to ask if I could try on a size smaller in my trousers. And they fit! The laundry lady asked me if I needed a new shirt, too, so I tried the next size down in that, too. And it fit! Wow. My pants had been slipping down my hips a little for weeks, but last week they got ridiculously slippy. So happy to have confirmation that my body's changing shape/size a little. :iloveyou:

Humming along to the occasional good song at work... it's amazing how much it can lift my mood. ;)b

Overhearing customers' reactions when they can't decide whether flowers are real or not. It's hilarious either way - when they think fake are real, or real are fake. ;D

During my flight to Las Vegas yesterday, I had a fairly decent conversation with the guy next to me.

During the flight to Portland, the beautiful flight attendant liked my tattoo.

Once in Portland, while on the tram, a very cute woman and I talked a bit.

Last night, I had a three text seperate conversations going on with jessimaka33, IdrilAsphodel, and intheend.

I went out drinking with my roommates/friends. They told me about the hell they endured while I was gone. They really were spoiled with me as a roommate.

Annnnnnnnd lastly (but certainly not the last of the greatness)..

The weather is predicted to be sunny for the next few days annnnnd I'M IN PORTLAND!!!!!!!!!

I'm starting to again feel like JFM. Let's hope it'll last! :)

PM, Welcome Back!

My reason to smile:  Spent a few hrs with my MIL checking out a new to her Asst living facility about a mile from our house.  She really seemed to like it and wanted to sign up right then.  Advantage:  1 mile from my house, easy commute instead of 30 min each way, much newer and nicer community.  They rarely let anyone on Medicaide move in saving those rooms for people who have been private pay but run out of money.  Down side:  It is significantly smaller than her current place.  She is moving from 1/2 of a 2 bedroom appartment she shared with her daughter until the daughter passed in August where she has her own bedroom and a livingroom into a studio with about 1/2 the closet space and no extra storage areas.  She seems really excited about moving, even though she wanted me to promise her several years ago that I would not make her move again.

Also, she usually has no short term memory.  However, Sunday DH took her a bracelette I made with some old beads I found and no longer like.  She thanked me for it when I saw her Tuesday without prompting.  Also, today I asked her if she remembered where we were supposed to go and she said it was to look at a new appartment for her and she was smiling as she said it.

Also, Dear GrandSON, 15 months, went with us for the tour.  He was invited by the social director to join the Lady's Club for the day while we did our tour.  So, for an hour, he had 6 extra grandma's.

PM is a VW ho :)

Hahahaha! :)

Here in Portland, I'm planning to meet up with intheend and ninefatstalks. If they ever make it here, I'd like to meet up with faunablues and IdrilAsphodel. Storm and Tweety have invited me to Florida and Yabbit invited me to Spain. And, of course, there are my established friends here - jessimaka33 and semiveg. I've not heard from Hanashi. I hope she's doing well.

Holy hell. I am a VW ho. :o :P

PS. Anyone else want to meet? Haha

Double post!

Reasons:

I'm cranking The Black Keys thru my earphones.
I'm on the MAX (tram) in Portland and just went through downtown. I'll stop on the way back.
I'm doing well in my college classes.
It's a sunny and cool day. 46 degrees, to be exact.
I've got ideas in my head of what to do but when I come back through downtown.....

VOODOO DONUT!!!!! :D

At this current moment, I feel confident and safe. Safe to do anything I'd like to do. :)

Thank you very much, faunablues!! And semiveg!! I didn't see your 'welcome back'. Thank you! :)

I've gotta share another smile (hehe)..

I mapped out the paths I took today. I've walked 7 miles today!!! I'm going to work on jogging/running.

Annnnnnnnd I just got word that there are two new vegan restaurants near my place!

Enjoy, PM. You deserve a Donut today!

My RTS: I finally got a paper shredder! No more DH throwing torn-up bank statements down the toilet and clogging it. And it only cost me like 11 Euros.
I love LIDL. Yeah, they're limited when it comes to food but this  year I have bought 4 track suits from them for less than 100 Euros, and they actually fit a woman my size, instead of making me look like an egg wrapped in a hankie.

Awesome, on both counts, Joshy!  :)  I was actually given the thumbs up from my surgeon yesterday that I can resume light jogging (after my spinal fusion 2 years ago).  Of course, my rheumatologist told me several years ago that I shouldn't jog because my ankles are weak from cartilage loss, but poo poo on him!  That's what ankle braces are for!

I girded up my loins today and fiinallly used my Japanese gohan nabe (traditional cast-iron rice cooking pot) to make some rice for the first time. It came out perfect, partly because I set the timer this time so I wouldn't forget it was on the stove. Now I see why the wooden lid was made slightly too small; it swells in the steam of cooking.

you my dear, just got +1 in coolness factor in my book!  :)>>>   I personally like my rice cooker though, plus its a steamer. I have used a gohan nabe before though, and yes, they are awesomesauce!

I got a bunch of American vegan stuff yesterday at the all vegan supermarket. It was awesome.

I got a big smile from finally being able to eat a peppered tofurky sandwich again.

I got tofurky slices, beer brats, and lemon pepper tempeh, plus gardein "beef" burgers. And best of all, but not American, vegan fruit gummy bears! Oh and Dandies. Mwuahahaha!  ;)b

Awesome, Sarah! I love it when they stop you to say something nice.
My favourite student of all time just emailed to ask me for classes. Squee!! She is so sweet and I thought she was gone forever, but she has her Civil Service exam to study for and basically she's panicking.

Yabbit - I love when people you enjoy the company of kind of dissapear and you wonder if you'll see them and then they pop right back up. Always refreshing.

Todays cool thing. I was at publix at like 7am and right when I got out of my car and walked like 3 feet away, in this pretty much empty parking lot this girl yells SARAH, YOU'RE THE TOFU SLUT RIGHT? I had no idea who this girl was. I guess she's seen my driving because I have a sarah plate and a tofu slut bumper sticker (thanks to VH). She started asking me about good ways to make tofu and recipe sites. I directed her here. Hah. I wish I was more awake because I could've been way more helpful.

Another good thing; the student I prepped for her Lit 1 exam passed! She had only 2 courses left to get her degree, she had taken a hiatus when her last child was born and said if she didn't pass this time she was giving up. She  passed both! She hadn't called for a couple of weeks so I was thinking, "that's it, she failed" but it wasn't that. The prof had emergency surgery so the grades didn't get posted.
