Reasons to make the slanty face

:\ You know, in between the smile and frown. I'm more often :\ ing.

P is gone to class, but will be back in a little over an hour. Also, he's going to a Street Fighter club thing tonight, that I would like to go with him, but I don't know that I'll be feeling up to it. The fact that he's going is a reason to smile, though.

Preston and I have been sharing my twin bed for over a month.
THERE IS NOT ENOUGH SPACE IN THAT BED.

i feel ya... same sitch but in a queen and i don't get much sleep... over it

You don't have enough space in a queen bed?! P, Olen, and I always sleep in a full! Twin would be tough.

... i share a queen bed and there's plenty o room. Except I kind of take over a bed of any size, so J may feel differently about this one :)

I forgot to mention that Chad crams in the bed too, he's a little dog but he spreads the heck out and has pushed me off the bed before. We're getting a full (one day), because that's all we have space for and they cost less.

My mom was five foot nothing. I had occasion to share her bed for a few nights in 1991. That tiny little woman could take over a kingsize with no trouble at all. I always ended up on the loveseat, which was not built for sleeping on.

I have a twin and cashise & abu always sleep with me. There's usually enough room unless I want to sleep in a position that doesn't allow them to take over the southern half of the bed.
Adding a whole second person does suck though.

My next door neighbor is moving.  She's super nice and her son is just the sweetest kid, and they also love Hugo and he loves them.  So I'm going to miss them.  But they're moving into a handicap-accessible house, which they've been waiting for for 8 years, and I'm sure it will make their lives easier.  The boy is in a wheelchair and he's 9 years old and probably getting too big for L to lift by herself.  So I'm happy for them.

I hope our new neighbors are nice.  The people who recently moved in on the other side of us are pretty unfriendly.

I shared a single bed with my first partner for a few weeks. Guh... neveragain!! (I don't get why y'all call them twin beds, when you only have one. :P)

A double (full?) bed is not long enough for me... either my toes get squashed, or I have to jack-knife across the bed to find room - so I would have to sleep alone in a double bed. ::)

I slept alone in my queen bed for many years, usually sprawling or spreading right across it, however I wanted. Ah, bliss. I still don't always sleep well while sharing said queen bed with my partner, even after most of two years. ;D

The Spanish "double" bed is really only a "princess" bed--slightly wider than a normal single. 135 cm across and exactly 170 cm the long way. I know this because I'm 171 and my toes go over the edge if I lie flat.

My RTMSF: Instead of paying me money for the translation, Mamen decided to invite us to the Taj Mahal restaurant next week. It's apparently a very nice curry place. We couldn't afford it on our own. And they brought me some cartoons that I couldn't get on my own either. So those are both  :) :).
But I could have used the cash in hand.
But I let myself in for it by asking for the cartoons in exchange. I didn't know it was going to be twice the work it seemed to be.
So those are  :( :(.
Result:  :-\

Note to self: STOP using the phrase "I owe you one" to Spanish people. They take it seriously and think that you do indeed owe them a favour. And they will hold you to it.

DS17 is under doctor's orders not to walk to/from school right now because of leg muscle problems.  When I picked him up today, he asked me if he could reschedule his gaming group from tomorrow night to Saturday.  I asked why since this is an unusual request, especially since it was supposed to be right after the last day of school before winter break.  It turns out his best friend has not been at school for several days and rumor is the friend's mother attempted suicide a few days ago.  He wants to go to his friend's house to check up on him after school tomorrow instead of gaming.  I am really sad about this news but proud that my son wants to be there for his friend.

Thoughts, prayers, good vibes for JP's family appreciated.

We got a voucher ages ago to get a canvas print of our own design.
A week or so before Christmas we decided to use it to get a photo of Gary put onto canvas.  It arrived yesterday.  It was a real slanty for me.
Super smiles because it's an awesome photo and a lovely reminder of her, so now she's always looking at us (we already have a print of her in our bedroom), but obviously frowny because she's not actually here.

When the picture arrived it gave me more smiles than tears, so maybe this should really be in the RTS thread.

I'm so sorry about Garry, Shell.

I ache! My legs are super achey and my stupid joints are cracking and aching as well. Plus we're still sleeping on a futon that is too small for our bed and very thin. My body needs support. We're just slightly broke, so a real mattress is going to have to wait until next payday.  :-\

So I was struggling last night with insomnia, the kind where if you cover up  you're too hot (as in, it seems like your blood is going to boil in your veins) and if you throw the cover off, you're too cold.  :(
I must have been asleep or half asleep at one point because I thought of this Wonderful, Magritte-type joke and thought, "I must tell Heli, she'll appreciate it!"  :)
Then when insomnia reasserted itself I realised that a) the "joke" made no sense b) to even get it at all you have to have a working knowledge of French and Spanish and Spanish culture and c) even with my stupid sense of humour, it's not all that funny.
Which is kinda a  ;D
But it works out to  :-\.

hey, at least you remembered the joke. it sucks having that feeling that you forgot your brilliant idea/joke, knowing that it probably makes no sense anyway, but wondering WHAT IT WAS.

My part-time job ends in Feb.

The job I applied for before it,  wrote me back that the job was FINALLY starting in April. It pays more for less hours than the old job. But it is really far across town and I will have to be without income for part of Feb and all of March.

I'm seriously broke. And due to extenuating circumstances, I will only be able to work for them for 3 months. So I don't feel comfortable duping them, when I originally said I could work long term.

So:  :-\

OK, you won't get it Heli, but here.

You get a photo of Camilo Jose Cela, Nobel-prize winning Spanish author, and write under it "C'est cela."
If you don't get it, see if Faunablues does.

Today is DH's last day at his job (he has a much better job starting in Feb), and I made a cake for him to take to work, but he forgot to take it even after I reminded him on his way out the door. ::) I'll happily eat the cake, but I'm slanty because I made it for him to share with his coworkers and now they're not going to get any of it (and they love my baking).  I did offer to take it to him, but he said not to worry.  It's a long drive and it's raining so I didn't really want to go anyway.

I started physiotherapy massage today, which is  :).
We caught it before it is totally disabling, which is also  :).
But it is pretty bad, and the first session was uberpainful. It feels like my shoulderblade bone is full of hard points...which are actually spasms in the muscle.
And because I can't turn over without waking up because of the pain, I've been abusing sleeping pills again.
>:(
However some day soon it'll be better, so  :-\.
