Reasons to Cry Like a Baby

("frown" didn't seem adequate)

I had to put my sweet black dog to sleep yesterday... knew it was coming-- she was 14, & had been treated for lymphoma for the past several months-- but it just never gets any easier. We were friends a long damn time, and I miss her very much. Pics & FB eulogy here: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.179450365448242.45816.100001498387941.

Many of the 2-legged creatures in my3-D world fail to understand the sadness magnitude of this event... like, "that's too bad, oh well she was old"... then I kick them in the shins/ balls, and go back to bed.

Cyberhugs needed.

I chopped some friggin onions like, an hour ago, and my eyeballs still hurt.

and Josh, if you did have a quiz or final you had to take, you know you could crash here.. :)

I know how sad you and River would be if I came back. I can't do that to you two. ;)

Hope everything works itself out for you soon Josh!!  I know how frusterating it is to end up in the very place you want to leave.  One day at a time.  You have a bright future.

I cried this morning and last night seeing the pictures on the news of all those animals piled up dead :(

Thank you so much, Ms. larisuena!! :)

To be honest, I've not seen anything in the local broadcasts regarding the animals. I just heard about the release of the animals last night from my mom. And I've only talked to people here on VW about it. From the sound of it, it does sound like a very sad situation.

Jose heard about the animals on the BBC. The English are up in arms because they didn't use tranquiliser darts. From my translation experience, I know that not all TDs can be used on big cats. But still. I mean, 18 tigers, and they're endangered? What the actual fuck?
What was he doing with them in the first place? You can't tell me the state govt wasn't aware. Beyond anything else, they smell out loud, and there's the noise factor. And always a danger that one could go over the wall.
America is....weird.

The English were upset about not using tranquilizers? Wait. I'm supposed to say something profound here. Well they can take their tea and shove it! USA! Kidding.

In all seriousness this is a crazy situation for sure. I've tried to find things about it locally but nothing. I mean, it happened about 2 hours from here. I've heard about the story on the national stage, my mom, and you all.

I heard Jack Hanna (head of (among others) Columbus Zoo and national celebrity) tried to offer some assistance in the capture and he couldn't do anything. Supposedly the animals were abused and leery of humans and refused capture. I dunno. It's certainly sad animals were killed. I remember when I went to the Portland Zoo and the tour guide said the leopard? the zoo had was a rarity. She said there were only 35 left in the wild. I thought, "why the hell have it? If its population is so low, leave it alone!" Supposedly, the zoo does a lot of work in repopulation and release back into the wild. I dunno. That's a debate we can have in Food Fight. Ha!

And yes. America is weird. I agree. If you remember, Yabbit, one of our first conversations was about how America looks from the outside. Those viewpoints fascinate me and enable us to learn. I enjoy eccentric and odd. Weird is..bleh. Haha!

There's a lot of money to be made in captive breeding programmes. Zoos don't transfer their animals to other zoos for free, money changes hands. They say they're saving the species and yet at the same time they humanise the animals by "target training" them to respond to clickers so they can be medicated if necessary etc. Ergo their offspring could never be released in the wild.
Yes I know...take it to Food Fight...but it's bizarre.

I had a dream once, a particularly vivid one-- this was probably 20 years ago, and it's still clear if I think about it-- where I was on foot in a beautiful place, and there were people in jeeps with automatic weapons, gunning down everything they could see that wasn't human... there were families of big cats, with lionesses trying to drag the cubs away, all just being mowed down while I frantically ran from place to place trying to stop it, sobbing and screaming at the people to stop...

This event feels like that dream.

In fact, that dream pretty much summarizes how I see my species' relations with the other living things on the planet, in general. Surely i'm adopted: please tell me those creatures aren't my real family.  >:(

my dogs aren't vegan anymore  :'(

bella (the white one) was doing awesome... mason (the black one) has always been an itchy dirtbag with runny poop... he had some bizarre allergy freakout after the groomer so i took him to the vet who said the itchy dog thing can be from so many different things... benedryl wasn't working so i had to give him a steroid shot (that made him aggressive and horny) and i sent in for an allergy test...

mason is allergic to seriously EVERYTHING except chicken... so i have always been feeding him wrong... he's mildly allergic to lamb... anyways, if i change his food, i have to change bella's or she will just eat his cause she's a jerk like that... so both my dogs are eating chicken i think natures recipe :(

no more vegan luvies... so sad  :'(

eta: good news is that in less than a week mason is less itchy and his poop is more firm

You gotta do what's right for your pooch-- don't be sad b/c it's not what you would like to do! Some animals do need other-animal food*... that's out of our control, just do the best you can to source it as sustainably as possible, etc-- find the least-harm way to get him what he needs, and be proud of being a good dog-mom! What he needs is what he needs.  ;)b

*(fortunately humans, at least, do not!)  :)

Any quick change of food can do that.  I am not sure it is something to be too worried about yet but keep an eye on it.

My RTCLB:  My grandson's other grandmother is either going to loose her cat overnight or have her put down in the morning.  Rufus is a beautiful long haired gray girl who is as sweet as can be.  She is severely dehydrated and the vet's efforts short of IV which is not affordable have not made a difference.  There are several other things going on as well.  She will be greatly missed by her family.  :'(

also, sometimes dogs/cats will gorge themselves on a new food, and 'cause they eat so much so fast, regurgitate all of it. One of my kitties does this all the time :/ Sometimes I have to give him only a little bit of food at a time to prevent it.
