You are here

The official, amazing, aimless chitchat thread.

So this is where we go to make small talk that doesn't really fit into other threads.
It's the thread with no attention span!

Frequent, arbitrary changes of topic are encouraged.  In fact, they are mandatory.

So, I was just thinking, wouldn't it be awesome to have the decor in each room of your house be inspired by a food?  Like, I was cutting up eggplant today, making my accidental eggplant chips, and I though, wow, this eggplant looks so pretty against this green plate!  I would love to  have a room inspired entirely by eggplant colors.  And then I thought there could be ones inspired by mangoes and apples and sweet potatoes and pretty much any other pretty food.

Hey, a friend of mine made these really awesome mosaics of all her food pictures based on color.  THIS is what I mean:

So, what was I saying?

Yum!

Everyone here has uber veg*n awesomeness, really.  What we SHOULD do is come up with nicknames.

Whoah, wait a minute. You guys are forming a coherent topic. You have gone from aimless to aimful. Leave with your aimfulness please.

On the other hand, oreos are on sale at Raley's.

I agree, this is taking away from my mind wandering aimlessness

Has anyone tried the other oreo flavours? Vanilla, strawberry, banana, peanut butter, double chocolate, or mint? I've had the vanilla, and they are super sweet, and super yummy (especially dipped in PB). But to be honest, I'm trying to quit oreos. I should make my own cookies instead... with oats and raisins, real spices, nut butters... and get back into the kitchen, instead of buying pre-made, highly processed things like oreos.

But the vanilla ones are SOOO good.  :o

Someone should make an oreo's recipe.  Like for making oreo's from scratch without the crap.  That would be awesome.

Or Spectrum shortening instead of EB, if you want to avoid the buttery taste and keep the filling super white.  Palm oil upsets my stomach, so I'd be tempted to stick with the EB.

i keep reading this thread backwards. it's better that way.

hold up, there are banana oreos?

i always thought they should do some sort of pumpkin spice/chai/gingerbread-type oreo for the fall/winter, instead of just coloring the cream.

meanwhile, i'm dreaming about ochem. is that bad?

I've never seen banana, only chocolate, peanut butter, mint, and double stuffed.  What is this banana and strawberry of which you speak?  I MAY have seen vanilla but it doesn't ring a bell immediately.

Maybe it's just in Canada? I don't know. The idea of banana and strawberry oreos kind of freaks me out - that's why I haven't tried them.

When I was younger, I remember that the cream inside the oreos were different bright colours. Remember?  this was in the beginning of the 90s, the heydays of neon colours. The cookie industry had to follow suit.

I remember eating some. I'm not dead, therefore it wasn't really radioactive. Just looked like it.

Since I'm all reminiscing here, I remember also... the grocery store made some bread in blue. We called it the smurf bread. And it wasn't mold, it was food colouring I believe.

on top of the heavy sleep, i sleepwalk (but only to go pee at night). i didn't know until i went to college and kept getting locked out of my room  :>

this made me think of a sleepwalk-ish story.  (yeah, i might be posting backwards and out of order, but this IS an aimless thread...)

i sleptwalk or whatever to get something to drink, but i reached in the fridge and tipped over an opened and half-full can of coconut milk.  it was glogging everywhere, and i was standing there for a few minutes before it started to reach into my consciousness.  apparently i started saying loudly, "what's that noise?  what is that?" and my ex came to check it out.  thankfully, he was kind enough to clean it up, but that was an icky mess fo sho.

hope you don't lock yourself out anymore  :)

Well, end of the 80s beginning of 90s, no? Well, I come from a place where fashion trends arrived two years late. Rural Canada.  :D
