The official, amazing, aimless chitchat thread.

So this is where we go to make small talk that doesn't really fit into other threads.
It's the thread with no attention span!

Frequent, arbitrary changes of topic are encouraged.  In fact, they are mandatory.

So, I was just thinking, wouldn't it be awesome to have the decor in each room of your house be inspired by a food?  Like, I was cutting up eggplant today, making my accidental eggplant chips, and I though, wow, this eggplant looks so pretty against this green plate!  I would love to  have a room inspired entirely by eggplant colors.  And then I thought there could be ones inspired by mangoes and apples and sweet potatoes and pretty much any other pretty food.

Hey, a friend of mine made these really awesome mosaics of all her food pictures based on color.  THIS is what I mean:

So, what was I saying?

and i'm in the process of deep cleaning the whole house. i only got the bathroom done.

I took this week off from work to deep clean my house and spruce up the outside of it because I want to sell it.

Beginning of week:  saving Cat from ultimate doom
End of week:  food poisoning

I have today and tomorrow.  I HAVE to weed my property tomorrow morning, so I guess I'll finally get around to the deep clean today.  The anti-vomiting pills are working like a dream.  Yay, evil prescription medicine!

I don't think it's a postwhore thread...ruuuuddeeee, SB!  :err:

Hey hh, what's Cat doin'?

p.s. I decided I want to name a dog, Pup.

False!  Not a post whore thread!  It's a thread for talking about things that don't really have to do with anything else to avoid the hijacking of threads for personal interest.  ;)b

How did the cooking go, KMK? Whatcha doin with your sis?

Oh, she just left.  We made chickpea cutlets and lemony roasted potatoes from Vcon.  Both were so good!  And I also made her the best pancakes ever (or whatever they are called, from vegweb), which were, indeed, very good.  It was fun times!  We mostly walked around outside. It was really nice out.  Still is!  In fact I think I'll go for a run now.

It's dreary here.  :(

Sorry, guys. Aimless chitchat? That's code for postwhoring. It's not a bad thing, though and I did not mean it a negative way at all. I like postwhore threads. It keeps the offtopic garble to a minimum and is a place for bored people to chat about any and everything. It's kind of like an MSN conversation, but on a message board.

Hey hh, what's Cat doin'?

p.s. I decided I want to name a dog, Pup.

Cat's outside.  I like him inside, he likes being outside.  He plays for keeps, because he won't eat unless he's gone outside.  Darn Cat is a strategizer.

I think Pup is a great name.  I could see myself holding a dog face saying "Hey, Pup!" over and over ad naseum.

I came here to say that I like Hell's Kitchen.  Since I've been home for the week not doing much, I've had time to browse online TV shows.  The chef in charge reminds me of my Plant Anatomy instructor.

I watched a few episodes of the chef's other show, Kitchen Nightmares, and it's kind of boring - essentially all the same formula.  A restaurant has too large of a menu and staff issues.  There are inital conflicts as the chef insults people.  Then they redo the menu and have a difficult first night.  When the chef leaves they all hug, and a few months later the restaurant is still doing great.

Did you know you can watch Battlestar Gallactica online?

speaking of FP...

i left the veganase out on the counter all day when i went to work. it isn't really hot out (like fleece weather). is it still okay to eat (aka will i get FP from eating it?)

ps i put it in the fridge.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents as I am very fussy about my food, so much so that my hubby pokes fun at me, LOL!

That said, if I were you, I wouldn't eat it, especially if it's something that should be refrigerated. Our motto is, "When in doubt, throw it out!" Another alternative would be to call the company and ask if an opened jar requires refrigeration. I always err on the side of caution when it comes to food safety.

bp, I probably wouldn't worry about it too much. You were probably gone, what, 8 hours? If it smells good, go for it. I've definitely left vegenaise out overnight and been fine.

I've never seen any of those shows, hh! I think I've seen parts of BG...but we're Star Trek snobs (my favorite is Voyager).
I'm SO glad Cat is doing better! Cattttttttttttttttt.

I still have AT LEAST two years before we can have pups or cats (APT).  :'(

I forgive you, SB. Do you hope to make everything from V-con?

I just went to get laundry out of the APT laundry room dryer..and there was a guy in there cleaning vents and such (I guess), and he was sweeping stuff out from inside the dryers. He had a mask on...so then I started thinking, Uhhhh....I don't know how I feel about breathing all of this whatever stuff in....oh well. I guess it's just lent?

and back to deep cleaning, i make my own olive oil and raw sugar scrubs to clean my house. it really gets the cat fur off of things  ;)b
(just kiddin, but i'll prob use a box of baking soda!).

hahaha...so...you really don't make the scrubs, right??? After I read that sentence..I was like, whoa...I was jk. So you just scrub things (like what?) with baking soda for deep cleaning? I understand bathroom..kitchen counters? floors?

We have a really small apartment...so it stays pretty clean..and I organize/straighten a lot...so I'm just curious. We are still using up regular cleaning supplies that I bought a while ago (big tub of stuff). I CANNOT wait until my jumbo thing of Dawn is gone! (oooh, I could write a rhyming poem).

I cannot wait until my jumbo thing of Dawn is gone
It's so big with so much left, I'll just have to wait, yawn.

Cat insists on going outside, and then just sits on one of my ugly deck supports.

....oh well. I guess it's just lent?

I hear that if you breath to much lint, it'll affect your spelling.  :P  >:D  ;)

(I had to, because we've discussed spelling before.  :D )

I think that he'd be breathing it in a more concentrated form, so casual users would be okay.  Or, he has to wear the mask because of Health and Safety rules.

Oh my gosh, Cat. Cat is the cutest cat I've seen.
Agh! Lint? Is lent something? I'm a pretty good speller..Ruuudddeeee, hh!  :P It should be lent.  :agree?:  :whatever:

bp, whom are you fining? (I hope it's whom...I'm scared of hh, now) You can fine people for locking the doors? Do you get the money? Huh.

edit: I just remembered a few of your typos, hh...that I didn't call attention to. I believe in a recent post you typed 'you' instead of 'your'...that was a HUGE mistake!  :smileteeth:

My 2 cents: I advise against  using baking soda on anything porcelain. It is abrasive (although mildly) and leaves behind invisible scratches that make it easier for dirt to build up. This is most apparent in sink basins and bathtubs - cleaning these with anything abrasive means you will find yourself having to clean them much more often in the future. Kitchen counters would probably be ok, but I would frown on using it on the floor as well.

Lent is a Catholic observation prior to easter where everyone is supposed to shun something that they enjoy (I think in imitation of Christs sufferings?). It is most common for Cath's to forgo eating "meat" during Lent, but fish seems to be ok with them. I'm not going to add any of my observations on that, just because I want to be PC, but you can prolly guess what I'd be saying. I think Mardi Gras came about as a "last hurrah of debauchery before the "trials" of Lent begin.

Yeah, I was thinking that was how that was one was spelled. I don't really know a lot about religions, but would it be against any religions (such as Catholicism) to be vegan? I guess it's probably one of those things where some people say it is, some don't...all of that interpretation stuff...hm.
No TY!  >:D

YAY!
and about vcon... I am getting there! I've got a little over half of the book completed. I make lists every week of recipes I am going to try and cross them off as it happens. I'm going through the main courses right now and making one dessert a week! Up next is the eggplant rollatini and the moussaka. I will definitely make everything by the end of the year!

I thought you probably would be! Neat. I think I'll be that way with JOVB....I made multiple things this last week....for some reason, I just can't get into V-con. I've only made 3-4 things.
