The official, amazing, aimless chitchat thread.
So this is where we go to make small talk that doesn't really fit into other threads.
It's the thread with no attention span!
Frequent, arbitrary changes of topic are encouraged. In fact, they are mandatory.
So, I was just thinking, wouldn't it be awesome to have the decor in each room of your house be inspired by a food? Like, I was cutting up eggplant today, making my accidental eggplant chips, and I though, wow, this eggplant looks so pretty against this green plate! I would love to have a room inspired entirely by eggplant colors. And then I thought there could be ones inspired by mangoes and apples and sweet potatoes and pretty much any other pretty food.
Hey, a friend of mine made these really awesome mosaics of all her food pictures based on color. THIS is what I mean:

So, what was I saying?
Yay, I like aimless, random chitchat. I work all alone with no one to talk to all day so sometimes I just want to say something (you know what I mean?). So here we go.
I woke up early enough to make breakfast burritos today. Made me happy :) Then I left for work and saw my bf left the window of my car open from last night. It was raining so my car seat was all wet which made my butt all wet. Made me irritated >:( Then I stopped on the way to work and got a soy chai latte. Made me happy again :)
I am not a subscriber either but mine was there for the last 2 months and now is gone...I guess the same thing that has happened with ac. Actually it disappeared when I changed my avatar..hmmm.
You are right, THHF. I've never seen mine there (not that I really want to be there...), so I just kinda assumed that was the scenario....but I researched it and members as well as subscribers can be featured. I see the same profiles almost all the time, though?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too (the avatar change). I think that happened to me when I changed it last time too..it was there forever, then I changed the picture..and it was gone. Well, I think we've figured out that everyone sees different pictures. I've seen some of yours that say you haven't seen your own. Do you see mine there?
I like when mine's there...b/c I'm a selfish freak. ^-^

Isn't he your fiance now? Or did you break it off b/c of the car seat thing? ;) I hope you didn't really break it off..b/c that would be REALLY RUDE of me. :-X
Another vote for color. We have walls that are red, orange, yellow, and blue (so far. I'm painting the living room and office green. I have pics on My Space. myspace dot com / realtordominique. Yea for color!
I added you! Everyone who hasn't...add me, too! myspace.com/Allychristine4
Also, I don't really understand why people type out websites/emails (dot com...spaces). Is it just so that it won't be a link? Why?

Nah, I didn't break it off, I think I'll keep him around. Although now we have a running joke that whenever either one of us does something stupid we say either "give me that ring back" or "I'm giving this ring back." ;)
I just decided that I don't like to say the word fiance. To me it sounds like I'm being snobby or something. I always think of that episode of Seinfeld where this woman at a party keeps saying "where's my fiance? I can't find my fiance. Have you seen my fiance?" And Elaine gets really annoyed and says that maybe he was eaten by a dingo. ;D
Anyway, that was a rambling explanation :)

hahaha, I love all of that. My husband and I still do that (maybe once a day)...but I think we're past the point of "I'm giving this ring back," and we just say, "here's what I think of that" and slam the ring down on a table or whatnot. BUT I no longer do what I used to do..which was throw my ring down on the carpet...I wasn't used to having vents in the carpet before we moved...so I threw my ring down one day in our APT...and it was SO CLOSE to falling in the vent...it was horribly terrifying!
I think of that episode too..and I think that's why I loved saying fiance. Plus..you'll never have another opportunity to say it!
We also say, "maybe the dingo ate your baybay" a lot. If you didn't notice, Seinfeld is one of my "quotable movies" in another thread here.
Off topic, but on topic in an aimless thread - I'm sick. I threw up everything I ate yesterday, but my stomach doesn't feel better. It strongly aches and when I breath my lungs expanding put pressure on my stomach and I get a sharp pain with each breath. I've been sipping water, but I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it down. I've had the stomach flu before, and this isn't it. Do my symptoms sound like food poisoning?
eta: baths don't help :(

Capture - you shoulda made them crepes!
HH - the stomach flu = food poisoning (unless, of course, you also have the flu at the time). Maybe you're not done getting rid of whatever yuckiness you ate, and if your body isn't throwing it up... you'll have to wait it out =/ I've had this before. Meanwhile, eat crackers! Crackers are good sick-to-stomach food (at least for me).
On that note (not really), my finals start next week and I just got done crocheting a really flowery scarf. *and* i found out I get to work for *pay* at the cat hospital I volunteer at this summer. Yay! It's "fractious cat" time!
And on that note, I'm not gonna have much internet when I go home for the summer. But, there's this new vegan cafe that opened in my area with free wifi! And since I'll just *have* to buy something to use it, vegan cafe food for me!

I don't think that I've ever had food poisoning...but that sounds like a possibility. Maybe you are just achy, etc. from all of the throwing up. I hope it's better soon!
speaking of FP...
i left the veganase out on the counter all day when i went to work. it isn't really hot out (like fleece weather). is it still okay to eat (aka will i get FP from eating it?)
ps i put it in the fridge.
I would really think it would be ok... ???
I had food poisoning once. My puke was black and the act of puking was one of the most painful things that I have ever felt.
so speaking of food, i have been sooo tired lately. (warning: TMI ensues) I've kind of been having "that time of the month" for 2.5 weeks (thanks IUD) after not having periods for 2 years (depo) and I think it's makin' me anemic finally >:( What do you people (i.e. women) eat/do when this happens?
It's been forever, and I've forgotten what I used to do. I don't think I ever got tired back in the day of the regular menstrual cycle.
(P.S.: please tell me to eat chocolate, k?)

Hmmm. I'm pretty sure that I'm not anemic now (I used to be anemic when I was vegetarian), and I don't have heavy periods (EXTREMELY light/almost non-existent this month)....so I can only speculate. Is it heavy? Hm...I guess I really don't have much advice to give, here..
Do you (or anyone) have the problem of not falling asleep/staying asleep as easily when it's almost time for your period, and just not sleeping well, overall at period time? I've always had that..and I think that's what makes me a little more tired during that time.
I dunno.. :-\

I feel a bit better about my situation now. No black puke comin' out of me.

I think it's so that spam-bots don't recognize it.

I didn't know that. Good advice.
it's not heavy. it actually stopped yesterday (? for now... ???), but it's been like heavy spotting or a light period.
I had some trouble sleeping at first, but I usually (incuding now) can't be woken for ANYTHING.
Things I have slept through:
'94 Northridge earthquake
8 gunshots outside my apartment
very loud fire alarm
person entering my room, drunken and knocking over stuff
lights being on, roommate having a "study" session with friends
DDR
but I can't sleep through most meowing and, as I found out a few weeks ago, a woman screaming (ok, I'd probably wake up for a guy screaming, but I haven't had that opportunity yet).
any other heavy sleepers?
Don't fall asleep! I did that once boiling macaroni, I woke up four hours later to a house full of smoldering pasta smoke. It took many weeks for the smell to go away
I did that with ramen noodles once, which you'd think would be hard to do since they only boil about 2 minutes! Terrible smell and destroyed my soup pan.
:-D This made me laugh hard. Sorry to both of you for your burnt noodles, ruined pans and smokey homes. I've just never had the urge to turn on the stove drunk, let alone boil macaroni in that condition. I seem to recall chewing on safe bread-type things (in a very unladylike manner) when I'd stumble in with the munchies in the wee hours back in my clubbing days. I'm clumsy and forgetful enough when I'm sober. I'd probably be dead if I ever tried to turn my bread into toast.
That cat looks kinda like it got squashed. I love you lolcats! :)>>>
