I'm getting a job at my natural food store!

How exciting is that? I really needed a summer job and decided to look somewhere where I thought I'd be happy. One of my dear friends works in the deli at our local NFS and she got me a job! I start tomorrow and can't wait to make (and eat ::)) lots of healthy, yummy food. And I'll get a discount on everything I buy there. Sweet! I hope I get along with everyone there and am able to learn things quickly so that they're all happy I got hired.
Just wanted to share with people who I thought might understand my excitement.
Congrats on the new job! Do you know what kind of things you will be making?

I was thinking (I need a job so my parents and friends get off my back about getting a job) about working at the local HFS...
Then I went to WF for the first time... I would drive the 25 mins to work every day just to be in produce heaven...
But when it comes down to it I don't really want a job.
Drats.

Well, the first day was a success! I spent six hours in a tiny deli with four very interesting women. I love how natural food stores seem to draw such characters. I made a couple of yummy salads- citrus beet and zucchini pepper, made sandwiches and juice and smoothies for customers, found out there's a stash of free food for emplyees in the cooler (because it's expired or almost expired), and drooled over all the yummies that the baker made- I sampled her chocolate cupcakes with white frosting rolled in coconut and the omega muffins, which have banana and pumpkin seed butter in them. OMG! I'm really going to have to amp up the self control! :D I'm looking forward to tomorrow, and the day after that, and the day after that.... :)
Back 24 years ago when I was pregnant with my third child, I was the manager of the juice bar at the health food store that belonged to some good friends of ours. I absolutely loved it--and hope your experience is as wonderful. 8)
Must exercise double, triple, the amount that I normally do! Yowzers, there's SO MUCH good food at this job! Today when I got to work the baker was making a batch of vegan chocolate pudding (with tofu) and I told her I love adding peanut butter to mine. She became all animated and said that sounded like a wonderful idea, why don't we try it? So she added peanut butter and sold it as a new pudding! I love working with people who like to have fun with healthy food like I do. What a blessing. What a very high-calorie blessing! ::)

Good for you. Having a job you really like is a wonderful thing. There are so many jobs out there that are so easy to hate and they really take a lot out of you. I know from experience. I have a job that I like a lot now and I am a much happier person for it.
