Five interesting things people don't know about you.
Go!
1. I collect mugs, miniature books, and state quarters.
2. I have this idea in my head for a cafe with these mini cake desserts. (But not cupcakes; it's different.) I came up with it freshman year. I even have some sketches of it in my sketchbook. Top secret stuff.
3. I was born with cerebral palsy because the umbilical cord got wrapped around my neck, but it's very very mild. Many people with CP have trouble walking or speaking, but mine only left me with a very slight limp in my right foot and some random difficulties playing the violin. No one notices unless I tell them, that's how minor it is. I was pretty lucky.
4. I really love corsets. Love 'em. But I don't own one yet. Call me anti-feminist. Sorry, ok!
5. I am good at spelling. I went all the way to the local televised bee (NOT the big one, the Syracuse one) in eight grade, and it was pretty fly. Now I love crosswords. I credit my grandfather, who used to write crossword puzzles. :)
another jenny jones moment.....my dad met my step mom cause my brother and soon to be step sister were dating

i have more fun things i want to share that other peoples responses elicited:
1. i also am a certified scuba diver.. certified in open water, advanced diving, deep diving, and rescue diving.. i have also got the bends and had to spend time in a recompression chamber.. now that sucked..

4. i have a tongue, navel and 13 ear piercings.. up next nipples and girlie parts! oh my! >:D
5. i am obsessed w/ symmetry, yet my ear piercings are asymmetrical (5 in one and 6 in the other, a 6 gauge in the bottom hole of one ear and a 5/8" plug in the other) and only have tattoos on my left side.. but i will sit there and make sure all my veggies are perfectly cut up and layer my sandwiches in a very systematic perfectly symmetrical order.. man im weird.. ;D

LOL! I guess we all have a Jenny Jones episode or two in our families.... now my dads side of the family....that is like 5 yeeeeears worth of Jerry Springer episodes! Not my dad himself, his siblings....... my dad is awesome. He rose above the whole thing... It's funny, when anyone needs a good story to laugh I tell one about one of my dad's siblings.... heck, I have knew one from father's day!
So what did your hubby end up doing.....????
Wellllllllll, after much job searching/thinking about 876 different careers/etc., he's going to go back to school as a post bacc. (starting in August) to get a computer science degree....and get some job..as a computer scientist!
Cool! My dad is a computer scientist! School is fun...I wish I could go back....get yet another degree I will probably never use! My degree is in geology....I work in aerospace.....(huh?!) Last year I almost went back to school to be a math teacher..... now I'm just trying to win the lotto so I can move to alaska and just hang out ;)
Ok, everyone shared deeply personal things, so I feel obligated to do so as well.
In 1991 my first boyfriend died, in Dessert Storm. He was one of the 20 some odd Marines killed by friendly fire. His picture was on the cover of time. I still have a copy of the magazine, plus all those high school love letters. I always think that my life would have turned out differently if he had lived.
*gives everyone a big hug* No matter what you are all awesome and I think you are all great friends.

Yeah, math teacher was one of his choices too. I've been to Alaska, and it is beautiful!
The most AMAZING place on earth!

Wow...I am so sorry... wow.
Thanks pooh bear.
And slightly less depressing, I once attended an OzzFest here in CT (sometime in the last 4 years) and got my chest airbrushed and walked around topless. It was very freeing. I highly recommend it!

You are awesome! (I'm giving you a big hug by the way...)
This is a great thread...it has taken a lot of courage for everyone who has posted to share these points, whether they may seem big or small.
1. My current boyfriend (who I started dating when I was 17...23 now) is my first boyfriend, first kiss, first...everything!
2. I broke my leg when I was 2. My sister and I were playing on a Slip and Slide in our backyard, and I slipped and fell and somehow broke my leg in the process. I remember it all pretty vividly...going to the hospital, getting the cast on, etc. Probably my first memory.
3. I often plan out things I say before I say them, even just in the middle of an everyday conversation.
4. I adore cats and would rather have cats than kids. A few years ago my boyfriend and I sat down and had a talk about how we would probably never be able to get cats because he has severe allergies to them and I was honestly devastated...I cried and cried.
5. I have never traveled outside of Canada, and up until last year had never been on an airplane.
Also, add me to the list of people who have never smoked or taken drugs.
Oktokrewl, wow, you have been through a lot! I am glad you made it through all that and have gotten your life together like you have, good for you!!!!!

Oh, I am so very sorry.
That must have been heartbreaking for you.
My husband was in the military at the time, in Germany, that is how we meet...he was lucky, many times he was supposed to go down there, but never had to.
 (I'm starting to use this one a lot-I almost said, "I'm starting to use this guy a lot," but then I thought that might be something for the EFF gender thread)
Laura, I'll kiss you! ^-^

And I agree, this thread is very therapeutic - and a little inspirational. Hugs (and kisses) to everyone and thank you KMK.

Being that I'm flat chested, people would think, "Why'd that dude spray his chest?" Is this an EFF discussion? I love being topless when I'm working in the summer - it's so much cooler. I have man-envy that they can be topless for much of a day without legal problems. Do they just spray your chest, or do they spray on art, like face painting? I've never been to such an event.
wow, i really enjoy reading this thread :) you are all such strong people and I'm so impressed by you!
1. I've never done anything but drink, and 99% of the people I know would be shocked to find out I have had alcohol. The first time I had alcohol was in Spain (see #5) and I was 15. Until 6 months ago I had only had alcohol in the united states four or five times. I don't ever think I'll have the desire to do any other sort of substance.
2. The only person I've ever seen myself staying in contact with more than five years out (excluding my father and three siblings) is my best friend.Even the boy who broke my heart the first time never crossed my mind as having a place in my future yet if I had to imagine life without my best friend it would be very near impossible.
3. I'm extremely claustrophobic. When I was 13 we went to an aquarium with some relatives and there was one exhibit in which you walk through a glass tube with a moving floor (like a belt that moves you along) and the tube is surrounded by water with all kinds of marine life and it freaked me out to no end. I started crying and having trouble breathing. My dad had to pick me up and carry me the rest of the way. I also hate tunnels, closed tube water slides and elevators. When I was much younger I would stand behind my dad, against the wall, and close my eyes and plug my ears anytime we were in an elevator.
4. I count my calories every day, I watch what I eat but I don't eat an unhealthy amount of calories (normally between 1400 and 1700), I simply have to count them. I've tried not caring and not counting, but I have to. It really doesn't change what or how much I eat, i simply need to have a running tally in my mind. An old habit sometimes is hard to kick.
5. When I was 15 I lived in Spain for a semester and I came home a completely different person. I left with zero self confidence, I was convinced that I was unattractive and over weight. In Spain I lost 12 pounds, grew taller and learned how to open myself up. I am 100% convinced that if I hadn't gone to Spain I would still be not confident at all and never would have become quite as comfortable with myself as I am now. However, I also came home with a terrible fear of gaining weight which is something I still struggle with (see number 4). Everytime someone told me I looked good it convinced me that before losing those 12 pounds I hadn't looked good and I'm still learning to accept that as not being exactly true.
5.) I find men on men Hot!
Or how about this?

*shudder*
You probably mean something more like Cedric and Laurent:

When I first started this, I thought it would be mostly things like "I'm double jointed!"
But it turned out better than that! Haha.
5. I HATE change. Transitions in life change, not coins. That's why it's hard to be in a relationship (what if it gets too committed) and to wear "grown up" clothes (I'm 36 and I dress like a college student). I am really good at backing up vehicles using side mirrors.
This is hilarious, hh. Why the heck did you do that?! You CHANGED the post! I wouldn't have noticed...but I wanted to go back and see who was the first to really post something serious and "deep." The relationship thing...if you hate change...wouldn't you want it to be committed? So you wouldn't have to change to a new mate? Or you don't want to have to change to marriage? Explain.
That's interesting, because I LOVE change. I don't ever want to do the same job for more than, say, 5 years. I love moving and I don't mind leaving behind old people for new people (though I keep in touch with the old people). I was SO excited to graduate high school and college because it was like, "Hey, something new!"
